Does gold compounding make cadmium compounding redundant ?

I read that gold compounders could go without oxygen . Is it true ? If so , does it have any limitations ( apart from gold costing lots  more than cadmium but then again it's era 2 and cadmium's still costly ) or does it make cadmium feruchemy or compounding completely redundant ? Even with cadmium cost going down ?

Also if it's not true , why didn't anyone try to choke miles hundredlives ?

It heals any damage don, which includes oxygen deprevation and CO2 poisoning, so yes it does. 

But it's probably much less effective for that use than cadmium. Same with Bendalloy.

Admittedly, Cadmium is probably a much more enjoyable experience, with gold you'd still have to deal with the sensation of suffocating, I would think.
