*hugs*

Xino, get better. This is just a story, not a life. And if you want to vent, talk, anything. You just shoot me a PM. I know a little about listening. Plus...I’ve had my share of things that are...how did you put it? Difficult to discuss. -_-

Star sprinted down the hallway, golden hair streaming backward as she ran. She was following a mental signature and it was getting closer. Joyous, bubbly energy surged through her, making her feel almost numb. She felt like she was about to burst. Like she could float away and fly off. Finally, rounding a corner, she found the one she was looking for.

If she had been happy a second before, it couldn't even compare to the elation she felt now. Star tackled Pheonix in a massive hug and kissed him. It only lasted for a small moment, but when she pulled away, she had a huge grin on her face. Her eyes twinkled and she looked happier than she had ever looked in her entire life. She felt happier than she had been in her entire life. “I love you!” she said. Then she giggled, the sound echoing like tiny bells. “I love you, Pheonix, I love you!” She buried her head in his chest and laughed some more, laughed so hard that she started to cry. After everything she had been through, every torture and torment, this seemed a fitting recompense. Being happy was… very strange, honestly. She didn’t feel heavy anymore. Despite the fact that reality was literally torn in two, things seemed… okay. Could that really be true? Who could say this wasn’t a dream? That she wasn’t still sleeping? That she had never fallen asleep in the first place and it was all just… meaningless. Nonexistent, even. She gripped Pheo’s shirt, as if to prove to herself that he was truly real. Besides, with her track record, it wouldn’t be long before he was swallowed up from the plot and killed, taken away from her. That sobering thought in her mind, she whispered it one more time, more solemnly. “I love you.”

Pheonix smiled and kissed her back. "I love you, too," he said, the words pouring out in a rush. "More than I can say."

Star melted in his kiss. She wanted more. She had missed this more than she remembered and it was so glorious to be back where she knew she belonged. Star leaned in and nuzzled him for a moment, laughing to herself. "It's nice to be back," she said. "How long was I asleep?"

"Only a couple days," said Pheonix. "But you missed some excitement."

Okay! Last post from Heather was her tearing up the wine cellar.

There were several large crashes, which sounded like wood and glass from below deck. They were muffled, but you could feel the vibrations.

Star cringed. "I'm... assuming that 'excitement' isn't over yet?" she said. There was a slight tone of dread in her voice. As if she meant to say, Author above, I thought I was done with all of this.

Pheonix winced. "That's Heather," he explained. "She... well, she got turned into an Inquisitor. She's been... upset... for the last couple of days."

How in the world did Pheo figure that out?

It's been two days. Tom sees everything that happens on the ship, he would have informed Pheonix by now.

Star's eyes widened and her mouth dropped. Her eyes narrowed, but she furrowed her brow. Overall, her look was one of horrified disbelief. "W-what? H-how..." All the happy, bright energy within her faded, replaced by the oh-so familiar feeling of dread and hopelessness. "Pheo, you're kidding. You have to be... kidding me." Her eyes pleaded with him.

I just had the crazy idea for an AU where Heather is a foster child and Pheo and Star adopt her and Butt is their biological son and they have a dog named Ember. I really like this. Star would be overly cheerful to compensate for the loss of her previous husband and Xino is Pheo's eccentric older brother who lives next door for some reason. And their other neighbors are this mad scientist guy and his girlfriend who lives with him, but they're not married. *violent fake coughing* Put a ring on that, please, Tom. I. Need. This.

Butt and Heather would hate each other, but they'd make a pact to behave in front of their mom. And I can't decide if Ember should be a dog or Star's sister... But then, I don't think Ember can decide that on CBST either.  Sophie would definately be Star's little sister though.

Pheonix shook his head glumly. "If only I were..." He sighed. "Tom tried to take a closer look to see if he could reverse it, but, well..." Another muffled crash came from the basement and he winced.

"Oh..." Star whimpered. She sighed glumly. "Pheo, I gotta talk to her. That girl... she's been through so much, I can't believe... How could I have let this happen!"

Heather has finally finished tearing up every single piece of wood in the wine cellar. The room seemed larger now, without all the shelves. Broken wine bottles also littered the floor. The first part had been rage with her hatchet, but had slowly trickled to slowly tearing it apart. It had only lasted roughly ten minutes. Then she sat down again, not caring about the tiny splinters that pricked her skin and the wine that still looked like blood. She just didn’t care.

What the hell were you thinking? A voice in the back of her mind said. Those wine bottles were your only ticket to oblivion! Heather looked around in shock, searching for an unbroken bottle of wine. She found a bottle of Horneater wine, with only the top broken off. She downed it, not minding when the jagged pieces slicing her lips. Blood mixed with wine, but the Inquisitor didn't mind. She laid back, letting the drunkenness consume her. Blood poured down her lips and chin, making her kind of like a vampire with spikes protruding through its's eyes. Bliss...

Oh, Heather... :(

Ember felt something stir within her as Star awoke. With that came the realization that she had been sitting here for... two days? Time was strange. Somehow, she had shut herself out of her mind, putting herself in stasis of some sort. She shook her head, slowly coming back to clarity. She stretched her legs out in front of her, annoyed by how stiff her body was. She clasped her hands together and stretched them over her head, rolling her neck as she did so. When she put her arms back down, her eyes fell upon the mirror again. She frowned. Ember... she thought to herself. That is Ember.

The Destroyer got down on her hands and knees and crawled to the piece of reflective glass, making sure to grow her shell on the places touching the floor. She stared at herself, at her big glass eyes and strange, rocky skin. After blinking a few times, she sat on her knees and reverently reached a hand out to touch the mirror's surface with her shelled hand. Her fingers trembled as she laid them against the cool surface. Ember, she thought again. The Destroyer. Protector of the Sun. The Warrior...

Star... Pheonix.... massive hug... and kissed him.

A shudder than through Ember's body and she jerked just slightly. Words began to run through her head.

Sophie... A flash of blue. Tears on her face. Blackness... coming... closer... She felt so alone. So cold. So trapped and afraid. Something screamed. The next voice was whispery. It sounded... cracked. Like a broken mirror.

When I'm done... Oh, when I'm done. Star will rip Pheo's still beating heart from his pale chest! She will be Queen once more, she will REIGN over you filthy commoners. You have no idea what you've done... When I'm done... When I'm done with her...

Pheo and Star's kiss broke off and the vision ended. Ember gasped for air. What in the thread? She frantically felt around the ship with her mind for the blue and black ones she had heard in the vision. They could not be found. It was as if they did not exist. Star seemed happy enough. Pheo was there with her, so that made sense. Heather, however, was in great distress. Ember cringed. Slurred pain and sorrow radiated from the girl. She felt a drive to help her, but then she remembered her rejection and her soul shrunk.

A crash sounded down the hall. A few moments later, Star's melody changed. Star... Oh! Ember had an idea. Star could help Heather. Heather liked Star better than Ember, so it would work. Her mind still a little cloudy from the vision, she sent a mental pulse toward her master, bidding her to help the girl. Ember smiled and laid on her back, sighing. Her limbs felt heavy, but perhaps she had done something good. Something good to help Heather.

A feeling of urgency ran through Star's limbs. She needed to help Heather now. The feeling was overwhelming and actually made tears rise in her eyes. "Pheo, she needs me now! What if she gets hurt what if Ruin... Oh, we're wasting time!" Star took off in a dash toward Heather's mental signature, praying to TVG that Heather was even somewhat okay. She tried not to picture the possibilities. Why hadn't anyone woken her? Why hadn't they helped Heather?! Growling, she ran harder, trusting that Pheo would follow.
