BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Heather didn’t say anything.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Ember walked over on her toes, happy energy flowing through her. She bent over curiously, then knelt, growing her shell on her legs to protect the floor. She clasped her hands before her and studied Heather's eyespikes. "They're shiny," she said matter-of-factly. BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Quote Ember is not good at this whatsoever. Heather laughed. She laughed, and laughed, which slowly became whimpering.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Quote Nope. She doesn't understand a thing. Ember furrowed her brow in confusion, realizing that something was not right. "Heather. Are you okay?" Edited October 13, 2019 by Shard of Thought
BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Quote (This is how I imagined Heather’s reaction) “What do you think? I’m a monster, agent of Ruin, dead inside, depressed, suicidal, emotionally unstable, and numb. JUST GO AWAY.” 1
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Quote That poor girl... Ember was shocked. Her posture shrived and she bit her lip. She didn't want to go away. Hadn't she been feeling happy just a few moments ago? "But..." she managed to say. "I thought.... that you..." Edited October 13, 2019 by Shard of Thought
BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Heather looked at Ember with her Spiked eyes. “Go.”
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Ember couldn't hold her gaze as she got up. "Okay... okay..." She wrapped her arms around her waist and walked out, sitting outside of the door against the wall. She was too shocked to cry. Heather hadn't been like that before... Was there something wrong with Ember? There must be... She just wasn't right here. People didn't like her. People were afraid of her. And Star would be too, eventually. BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Quote *Sigh* I knew Ember would take that the wrong way… Why can’t she understand? Does she know that I’m a Inquisitor? Does she not understand that Ruin could take control of me at any second? She decided to stop thinking and went numb again. 1
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Quote I love that Heather is worried about hurting one of the most powerful beings in the universe. It's quite bittersweet. Should I be... angry? Ember thought. I don't think Star would like that Heather was mean to me... But she cares more about Heather than she does about me. So I must be the one at fault. Bad Ember. Bad girl. Star trusted you. And you've done nothing but fail. Edited October 13, 2019 by Shard of Thought
BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 8, 2019 Author Posted October 8, 2019 Quote …The biggest Oof. Technically it’s neither of their faults… 1
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) Ember wanted to touch Heather's mind and find out what was wrong. But that would be rude. Intrusive. Heather wanted her gone, so she would leave. Well... sit outside the door. That wasn't "leaving." Ember got up again, feeling ashamed of herself. The room she went into had a mirror on the wall. Ember got into an offensive stance, throwing her hand to the side in preparation to summon her blade. But before she could, her eyes widened. That was her. She had never seen her reflection before. All of a sudden she realized why people thought of her the way they did. She was tall and unnaturally skinny with a rough outer shell and giant glass eyes. As she approached the mirror slowly, she ran her fingers over her face and through her hair - well, it wasn't really hair, actually. It was thousands upon thousands of tiny stands of metal. No one could see the difference. But she could feel it. She started sniffling. Why hadn't anyone told her she was so ugly? She really was a monster... Not a person. Not even human. Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Quote Man, I told you that you'd break her charred heart.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Quote The thing is, Ember doesn't talk to anyone, so if something happens, she's not going to have anyone to go to who might help her talk it out and learn about herself. She's like an Elantrian - all of her cuts and bruises add up.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Quote So the question is; what happens when you break one of the most powerful beings in existence?
BringerofShadows she/her Posted October 9, 2019 Author Posted October 9, 2019 Quote You get a chance to strike.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Quote But seriously. I don't know how I'm going to fix her yet... If she can be fixed at all by the time Astral is done with her.
