Well, luckily, the official page count has gone up. Till now, Amazon listed 304 pages or something like that, and I was worried; now it says 432, about which I am very happy.

Did the number of pages in the book actually change?

I don't know if the number actually changed; often the page count given prerelease is simply not accurate. For example, Words of Radiance was listed as 600 pages for quite a while, but the final book was 1088. But until now I don't think we had any reason to believe the previous given count for Firefight was inaccurate other than how much shorter that would make it than Steelheart. YA series tend to have a pretty consistent page count throughout, but it would not have been impossible for Firefight to be that short. Regardless, I am glad it is not. Of course, it may be the same length as Steelheart and have some extra content at the end, but no matter what I am happy now. As small as 432 is for a Cosmere novel, I certainly don't mind it for one of Brandon's YA books.

Oh that makes a lot more sense. Thanks! :)

Only 140 days to go...

As she witnessed the Child sign the endorsement, the Mistress of the Wafflesworn laughed. Oh, the gullible child! How beautifully Fatebreaker executed this.

She turned around and wove a gateway back to the Raven Throne, where she awaits the transformation of its monarch.

Maybe while waiting, she can just give Fate the new waffled cookies she's made. Spikes of Joy, indeed!

I already warned Fatebreaker that there is to be no spikes in my food.

A simple rule for him: if he turns his back on Newcago, the endorcement turns against him.

Oh, this is rich. The spikes are not in your food, Child. Oh no, not there at all.

And Fate, as a member of the Dark Alley, doesn't turn his back on anyone. Rather, visitors must be wary to turn their back on him!

I haven't been back in these courts for awhile, and I've quite forgotten how deliciously amusing things can be.

Glad they are not in my food. I am quite unfamiliar with spikes.

Hrrmmph. Dark alleys are so blazen and in your face. Now Spice, that is subtler. I distrust the events that are coming to pass here, Madam Contrare, would you consider an alliance with me to keep an eye on these hidden ruffians, so that if they do start using their puny spikes we may crush them and enslave a cult with a higher mixture of control?

The moment when the dark Alley realizes that they can´t spike the Queen, because her incincibility keeps the spikes from penetrating her skin.

Invincibility is no match for Atium spikes!

How would a spike made from Atium negate epic invincibility, when they can´t spike them in the first place? Aluminium maybe but even then Epics don´t play by the cosmere rules, so I doubt it would help.

(Ignore this comment, if you were just joking. :P )

Atium can steal everything. EVERYTHING! :P

Yes you can but you still have to spike them first, if you want to steal something, so you can´t spike them until you have already stolen from them for which you need to spike and.... and...
