“Strengthen anything,” Rob said, walking forward. “I can harden cloth into blades, or turn play-doh into armour. It’s still the same material, I don’t change it into something else like Leona can. I just... change their properties.”

He walked to where the water met the edge and stretched out his hand.

“I can also do it for other people. Do you want to walk on water?”

Ashlyn tentativly takes his hand, though she keeps her smile, "if you drop me in the water and get my clothes wet I will never forgive you."

"Indeed" James said, as he pulled into the craft store parking lot, hoping they'd be able to find everything.

Shana grabbed a shopping bag and then headed towards the entrace.
"Alright, let's start with candles."

"You just triggered my compulsive need to find all the scented candles, and smell every last one of them." James laughed with a grin, as he followed her in.

Shana laughed and stopped in front of the shelf with the candles.

"Lavender." She lifted a violett one and grimaced. "Awful sweet."

Looking through them for yellow and green she held up yellow. "Lemon, not surprisingly, but it's actually only half bad." She offered it to him and picked up a green one. "Forest...."

James took the candle offered, and gave it a whiff, "Quite lovely." he said, sighing. He picked up another jar of Green- Forest. He sniffed it judiciously. "Mmm, smells like home." He said, sentimentally.

"So it's decided. Lemon and forest." Shana started to load the candles into their cart and then looked at the next point on her list. "Confetti, balloons and if possible a disco light."

She looked up at James, holding the candle in his hand, realized that he'd only arrived a few weeks ago. "Where do you come from?"

“Just keep holding my hand. I don’t know if I can transfer it to you from range yet,” he said and watched her smile. He envied the ease in which she could do it, show that emotion without second-guessing herself. Well, Rob supposed everyone could do that. But the truth was years of practise meant it was difficult for Rob to show emotions even if he tried. He didn’t even physically think he could cry anymore.

Slowly, he led Ashlyn over the surface of the water to the deep end, which felt soft yet solid underneath their feet. Their steps created small ripple surface which travelled the length of the pool.

“Oh no, it looks like I’m slipping,” he said jokingly and began removing his hand from hers very slowly, one finger at a time. His tone didn’t match the words though and so the joke just seemed deadpan. “Looks like you’re doomed.”

"Idaho Falls, Idaho." James said fondly, "A rather large pine forest is just north of us, and it's only about a 2 hour drive to Yellowstone" he recalled. "So, I spent quite a bit of time up in that region with my family- so the smell of pine forests always reminds me of home." He put the candle into their cart and smiled. "I always wanted to live by the coast though- so now I finally have that chance."

"I like forests." She smiled as well. "I've lived-" Shana swallowed and then shook her head. "on the other side of the continent."

She finished quickly, shooked her head and started to search for balloons.

James was about to ask her where she lived, but at her obvious hesitation, he thought it prudent to not pry. "Now, for balloons." James said, hoping to change the subject, so Shana wouldn't feel uncomfortable.

"Yes, balloons." Shana nodded, her thoughts still lingering somewhere else. She walked through the store until she saw the balloons. She stopped, looked at them and did nothing, except breathing. Water, so much water. And she'd killed. What would they think of her, of the one she became?

Jace smiled, texting Shana and Leona so they'd both know, just in case they were doing different things. 'Ax and I are going to spend some time with each other at our apartment now that we're done at the mall and the JOP. Text or call us when the party's ready, okay? :)'

She touched his neck and Rob flinched, physical contact was one thing but no one had ever touched Rob’s neck before without trying to kill him while doing it. He took a while to adjust and the stormlight almost completely disappeared from them, leaving to them staying on top of the water by a very small strand of stormlight that could flicker out any second.

“I’m not moving,” Rob said, warmth in his voice. “If you want to stay dry, you have to hop away from me to the edge. Or...” he looked down. “We’re both falling in there.” A game of chicken was always fun.

Ashlyn takes her phone out of her pocket and tosses it to the edge, so its no longer in danger of getting wet, a stubborn light in her eyes, "alright, lets see how long this lasts."

Cassie spun around and almost burned a tortilla; she hadn’t realized he was still in the room. “Uncle James! Hey! Um. Jace and Ax, they’re getting married.” @Dr. Dapper

James grabbed a balloon and inspected it. "Do you think these would work, Shana?" He asked, politely, still trying to avoid the prior subject.

Don't worry about it. It's up to you, I'm fine with almost everything.

"Sure." Shana forced herself to smile and packed the balloons to the candles.

"We'll need some swimming candles for the pool."

Wordlessly she lifted some confetti for him to take a look at.
