"So, you're the 5th ideal now? If that's your boon, then what's your curse? It must be a pretty big one to balance that out."

Cassie stared at the carpet for a second. “She said I would never be able to see, hear, or sense a spren again. And I haven’t seen Joy since it happened.” After a moment of silence, she looked at him and went on, “Which is big, but not as big as I anticipated.”

Turning to Cassie she asked, “And, Cassie, you thought this was a good idea why exactly?”

“Why wouldn’t it be?” She could feel the confused look crossing her face. “I mean, if the bane had been worse, yeah, but this way I can...well, help. Help more than before, at the very least, because I was pretty useless.” She threw in a laugh, knowing it wasn’t very convincing.

Smiling at Cassie she showed her a thumbs up. "Congratulations on the fifth oath."

“Thank you,” she said quietly.

He frowned. "I wonder though, what happened to her. Is she still there, just floating around, unable to communicate to anyone?" He blinked, realizing that probably wasn't the wisest topic to discuss. "Er, sorry."

Sometimes I wish I could get rid of my spren. Bliss was silent, but was looking strangely at Cassie.

Edwins' eyes opened like plates. "Wait, did you say a spren? Any spren?" he said and as if she had read his thoughts, Twin hurried to the center of the kitchen now visible to everyone, and looked directly in Cassie's direction.

"What about shardblades and plate?" Leona asked. "Those are manifestations of spren as well..." She trailed off, looking at Onyx.

"Speaking of which, I still haven't tried to summon my blade yet."

"But, do you really have the power of a 5th Ideal Radiant if you don't have shards?"

"You should try it! I can't wait to get my blade. Oh, I know! We should all go train, now that some of us have new abilities!" Flid proposed.

"Seriously, I barely got to eat any food." Ashlyn says, a real smile touching her face, the first after last night. "If we're being honest though, I'm kind of glad it happened. Without it I don't know if I would have ever learned about... all this. I'm still not sure what to call it."

"Me neither," Rob said, leaning back, answering her smile with a stone-still face.

"Some of the others, they call it magic, but I never found that making sense, you know? Magic is supposed to be fake, where you wave a wand or a staff and cast spells. What we do... it seems like another type of science, that only some people can see. Because of her, you know?" Rob pointed upwards, to the ceiling.

"The Unmade, demon, whatever. She stops people from seeing what we do. Which is why you can't see it." Only when explaining it out loud did Rob realize how it sounded, demons, evil magic soldiers, that only a few people can see, that invaded your dreams.

"It's... well, it has its ups and downs. It certainly doesn't leave much time for homework," he joked, though his neutrally demeanor usually meant most jokes were delivered incorrectly.

James sat down at his desk, deep in thought. She says I'm close to the Words. he thought, I think, I already know what they are. But, am I ready to say them?

Look in your heart James The Nightwatcher said, abandoning her usual sassy demeanor, and beginning to sound more motherly. You're ready for this.

Silently, tears began to run down his face. This was the next step, it had to be done. "The most important step a man can take, is the next one." he whispered to himself. He stood up, and spoke: "I will lead men the best I can, I will guide them- even if I must sacrifice my own ideals to do so." A burst of light illuminated his gaze, and he felt a surge of newfound power rushing into him. These Words are Accepted came the voice of the Nightwatcher, ringing in his head. James opened his door, and began to walk downstairs, The Words were spoken, now it was time to start living them.

If anyone's wondering, My take on the 4th Ideal was inspired by Aang's arc in the final episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Also yee! 4th Ideal!

Yay Wyn!

Sorry for the delay, I was taking an unexpected mental health break.

Oh, Cassie thought, and tried to hide her wince. She hadn’t even thought of what it would be like for Joy, unable to show herself to anyone else and with her Radiant, once her only link to the world, not able to see her or feel her emotion pulses either. She’d only focused on the fact that it wasn’t much of a change for herself, not having verbally interacted with her spren much. Wow, that was awful of me. “It’s okay, Flid. And training does sound fun.”

She looked at Edwin and said quietly, "It seems like any spren, yeah." (OOC: No, she can't see Twinkle.) Turning to Leona, she mustered a shrug and said, “I summoned my Blade - by instinct, I guess - when the Nightwatcher did...this.” She gestured to herself vaguely. “And I could see it then, so I guess it doesn’t count when it’s a Shard? But I’ve never tried to summon Plate.” She shot a nervous look at Doc - he hadn't commented on this yet. Did he think she was trying too hard? Would Jamie think that?

Silently Shana watched, listened to Cassie's words.

"Try it."

She said slightly distractedly, her thoughts still with their previous topic. How easily they had changed it again, dismissed it. There had been some good ideas, but now - Cassie and Doc, and James she suspected were more important for now. She was only second oath, maybe they were right. Most likely they were.

Evelyn cast one last look around her room, which she had already searched multiple times, looking for something that she could engrave the new aons she'd made on. Anything glass or metal should do . . . Evelyn seemed to notice the window for the first time, giving it a calculating look before shaking her head and amending that mental statement. Most metal or glass things would work. Windows should probably be off limits. But if it came down to it . . . She should probably check the rest of the house first.

Evelyn hurtled down the stairs only narrowly missing James on her way down. "Hey James! Do you know where . . .?" Her question trailed off as she noticed James face. "What's up?" she asked instead.

Leona nodded. “I wonder if you can see someone else’s blade.” She held out her arm. How was this supposed to work again?

what form would you like me in? Onyx asked inside Leona’s head

A sword, I suppose.

A glittering sword dark as midnight tinged with blue appeared in her hand, tendrils of glowing mist surrounding it.

“...Wicked.” she said.

Looking closer at the cross guard, she saw a pair of glyphs. One was the elsecaller glyph. The other read “Cake”.

Ashlyn chuckles, "I bet. Though from what I've seen you can make up for it with... a lot of things, I just realized I don't actually know what any of the magic powers you have are."

Jason was in his apartment, showering as he tried to get over what had just happened. He felt a bit upset that his and Axel's prom had been ruined. His annoyance was more than he really knew how to deal with, and he was mentally just tired. They'd gotten there, seen the battle and tried to help, seen some of their friends hurt, and then... they'd just gone home. Once the fighting was done, but they had gone straight home. He couldn't even do anything because he didn't know how to lightwave yet... or what light weaving even was. Once he'd gotten home, he'd basically walked straight to the shower and gotten in- now he was soaking in warm water. He wondered what the night could've been if there hadn't been an attack. It would've been so nice...

Ax was sprawled on the bed, holding a pistol up in the air and pretending to shoot flies.

Jason only spent another few minutes in the shower, his ideas about what could've been solidifying into an idea of what it still technically could be. He got dressed in his tux again, smiling as he found and then looked at Ax on the bed. "Hey... could you run out and go buy us something for dinner? Whatever you're craving?"

"Does pizza from that one place on the corner sound good?" Ax asked, turning his head and raising an eyebrow at Jace.

Jason grinned, nodding. "That actually sounds perfect. Could you get breadsticks too?" He seemed more excited by the idea of breadsticks.

Jason smiled, watching him leave and then starting to set things up around the apartment as soon as Ax was gone. He didn't do much, and was done after five minutes, making the place look cleaner and slightly more romantic- a few lit candles here and there and some paper decorations here and there. He set up the table with a nice blanket as the tablecloth and a candle at each end, before hooking up his phone to a small speaker and making the front room as good a place for a dance as possible, choosing a few slow songs and smiling as he waited for his man to get home. It wasn't prom, but it was something- and hopefully it made the night as special as it would've been.

Jason smiled, taking the pizza box and breadsticks from Ax and setting it on the table, flicking out the lights then so it was much dimmer. The candles lit up the room well enough to see fairly well, though. "Prom didn't turn out, but that's fine. I mean, we have the tuxes, we each other, and we have music, so that's what matters. And we have a place to dance..." He turned around, offering his hand and smiling as he blushed. "If you'd like too?" He hit play on his phone and set it down with his free hand, a random mix he'd found on youtube for romantic slow-dance songs beginning to play. He might not know how to use his magic, but he still believed that magic wasn't as important as people made it out to be- magic couldn't have done this, could it? He was very unaware that his Lightweaving could've done this and so, so much more than this if he'd known how to use it...

Jace smiled, leading Ax onto the small dance-floor he'd made before beginning to dance with him- desperately trying to remember all the dances he'd learned in his school career- mentally praising all of the drama clubs he'd ever been in as saviors. He managed fairly well, feeling proud of himself.
