Leona arrived back at the house and flopped on the couch Ben and Shana, ruining Rob's romantic image of them and bringing out emotion from him at last as he cried. Also she injured them more. Her prom night had been ruined and so had the night of the kids on the couch.

"What a mess."

Shana grabbed a blanket and leaned against Ben, now that he was feeling better as well.

"I looked forward to that night for weeks, and now I end up in a ruined dress in hospital."

With a sigh she barely avoided Leone, when she flopped down on the couch as well. Good thing, they had a really large couch.

Rob nodded his agreement. Yes, the Prom had been a large letdown. Rob never let himself get too caught up within the anticipation of an event, but this was different. And of course, Voidbringers had come. Why wouldn’t they? It was a great opportunity to have all the Radiants in one spot.

“Hi, Leona,” he said when he sat on the couch. “How was prom for you?”

please don’t destroy me I have many valuable ships.

“There was a disappointing lack of food.” she said. “Well, not really, but I didn’t get a chance to eat it. Also, I got stabbed, my friends got kidnapped, I was interrogated, and I may or may not get arrested for almost lighting that policeman on fire.”

Flid walked over and sat on a chair, because the couch looked crowded. "Still better than I expected."

“What were you expecting?” Rob asked. He found it difficult to believe anything could be worse. Well, if the Voidbringers won, then it would be worse.

Flid looked over at Leona. "Honestly, there were a few times I thought.. that one of us was going to die."

"You're not the only one."

Shana looked up at smiled a weak smile in Flid's direction.

"When they had Ben, I thought they would kill him any moment. Instead they didn't."

Her fingers tightened around Ben's.

"I've never been that afraid in my life before."

He looked at the ground. "I'm sorry I couldn't help save you both. I tried to come and help but... Well, it's good the others were around." I should've been stronger. That's what Stonewards are supposed to be. Maybe I should be more like Rob. He's strong.

I'll assume they're all already in the house.

Edwin relaxed a bit when he saw that the others were alright. At least something good had come out of the police getting involved.

"I just hope we don't get police officers here by tomorrow morning asking questions about magic."

Rob looked to him.

“Why would the police ask us about magic? I don’t think they got our address, and they don’t really know about Investiture.”

Rob still refused to call Surgebinding magic. Magic was all that Harry Potter stuff Rob had seen. What the Radiants did was more like... science. Investiture.

He didn’t respond to Leona saying she almost set a cop on fire. He could imagine how that would be traumatising for the cop.

"They might know a thing or two, by now." he looked to the side awkwardly and didn't go into details. "Did they interrogate you too?"

“Yes, but we had an effective cover story,” he blinked.

“A thing or two?” Rob asked. His face was still neutral, but if it was possible to channel passive-aggressiveness through neutrality Rob was doing it now. “Did you tell them?”

"Well, it was more of a collective effort, really, things just, kinda turned out that way." he looked apologetically towards Flid and Leona.

Cassie poked her head in the door, then sank into a chair facing the couch, hanging up nervously.

"You told them, about us?"

Shana straightened.

"But why? Just, I don't know, tell them we were attacked, whatever."

She got to her feet, walked around nervously.

"What will they do? Imprison us? Experiment on us? You all know the movies? It never ends well for the strange, more powerful beings. They are always hunted."

Her voice rose, shook from fear.

"They can destroy all of this. What can we do, once government decides to come by?"

Whirling around to face those on the sofa she finally stopped.

"We need to flee. Now."

Cassie stared at her, faintly panicked. “Wait, we do?”

Leona sighed. “Couldn’t we just argue that they need us to save the world? Appeals to life usually work.”

Why did this have to happen?

”If worst comes to worst we can defend ourselves...” she trailed off.

Draug landed heavily on the front step, too tired to make a soft landing. He knocked twice on the door, then stood back, shoulders slumped.

"Do you really want to risk to fight our own soldiers?"

Shana stared at Leona, shook her head, then moved a hand through her hair.

"I don't. This is a catastrophy. I, I mean, we have no idea what they will do, and they won't listen? Why should some adult listen to our stories?"

A hint of desperation entered her voice when she took a deep breath, depleted the sphere.

"IT'S OPEN."

She called towards their door, then turned back to the sofa.

"If we stay, they can do anything, everything. We have no proove, nothing? I'm not sure what they will notice, what not, what they will, and I don't know, if we should risk it!"

"What if, that's them?" Her hand pointed towards the door, somehow the door exploded in a ball of fire and smoke, the stormlight leaving her in a rush.

Rob looked at the sudden enflaming of the door, and saw Draug behind it. He waved. People were panicking and inside Rob knew there was a good reason to. But, then again, why would the police believe a couple of kids who said they were superheroes? They would probably label it as drug-abuse or somesuch.

Walking over to where the door had once been Rob noted what type of hinges still remained, the model number so later he could order online the exact same type of door.

"It is a risk," he said, looking to everyone. "But police wouldn't believe you guys. They probably still don't. But either way... let's not try to reveal things to people again."
