He tried to sit up, but his wound wouldn’t let him. Rob and James had been there? How many others had come? And what was that about another one of the crystal things?

“Are-are you alright? Is everyone else alright?”

Ben asked, afraid of the answer, afraid that he had uselessly been unconscious while Shana and others had fought and suffered for him. He was afraid that someone had been seriously injured or worse because he had been too weak to fight.

"They are. At least, that's what I think."

"Don't worry Ben."

She leaned forward, rest her forhead on his hand.

"The police were, everything will work out."

I'm giving Wyn a chance to reply, before I interrupt the conversation, between James and Rob. I hope that's alright.

Flid sat down, and looked around nervously.

There's no getting out of this, Flid thought. I need to be careful, I'm not getting sent back to the orphanage.

He sighed. "Okay, What do you want to hear about first?"

Cassie sat as well. Get in touch with your parents. She felt a spark of grief for her own parents, but shoved it away. Most of the kids lived with Uncle James - this could be interesting, especially seeing as how she'd only met some of them in the last few days and some of them were legally adults - not to mention Jamie, who lived on the other end of the country, and Evelyn, who lived in Europe. Not trusting herself to think of a good story off the top of her head, she waited to see what the rest would come up with.

Eiss sat next to Miller, scanning the bunch avidly. She was eager to hear what they had to say.

"Just tell us what happened. Everything you think, that might be important. Like the huge amount of cake, the van, how your friends were injured."

Miller looked to Eiss to see if she wanted add something.

"The whole story please."

The police had shown up? That made things complicated, prevented an easy, neat solution. How were they going to explain several teenagers with weapons and superpowers fighting a bunch of adults? The arrival of the police had likely prevented them from losing, though, if they had had to resort to calling them.

”How are we going to explain this to them?”

“Ashlyn,” Rob replied. He shrugged.

“She came to the house some days ago. We were going to get some fresh air outside. She probably thinks I just ditched her and ran away.” He shook his head. “But it’s okay. I would do it again if it meant saving Shana and Ben. Stonewards are made for sacrifices.”

"She seems nice." James smiled. "She was there, you know, she knows about us now." He laughed, "finally had the chance to give myself a properly dramatic introduction."

When the police went on without anyone speaking, Cassie finally ventured, “I don’t know if we can tell you everything.” Which was true, though in a different way than they hopefully thought. She didn’t want to lie to them - they were the police

"We will find a way."

Shana smiled.

"Don't worry. There's always a way."

She looked up, when she heard a door open and two men stepped into the room. Police officers.

They nodded at them and the took position at the door.

"I see, you are awake. We will make this short, so that you can continue to recover."

ME? Cassie started internally panicking. “I, er, um, well, I don’t know if we can tell you everything because...we don’t know everything?” True, though them having met Invested people who weren’t Radiants made it less true. “And the stuff we do know is...complicated?” Very true, but her words kept coming out like questions and the female officer was giving her a weird look and everything was doomed, Cassie had doomed everyone, she was doing everything wrong and she was an awful Willshaper and she was going to get them all killed one day.

"Evening, officers." James said. "I can tell you everything I know."

"Ben and Shana had gone outside during our prom." he began, "I got a bad feeling about it, and so I went outside to go find them. I heard a noise, coming from the field where you found us." He continued. "I realized that the nature of the situation was violent, so I prepared to go and help my friends. However, by the time I had arrived at the scene, the conflict had mostly died down, and moments later, you arrived." He concluded. "Rob was there for longer though, so he might know more." He added.

Fair warning, Cassie is an awful liar for a Willshaper, she’ll probably end up letting something slip by accident if nobody else speaks up and the police keep trying. Which is fine with me, I mean if we’re letting the public know eventually anyway...just letting y’all know :P

"Well, this is going to come out whatever we do, so we might as well get it over with." Flid said to the others. He turned back to the Cop. "We were at a dance where two of my friends were kidnapped by magical demons because we're a magical group of knights who protect the world from said demons, and the cake was created by Leenie-" He gestured towards Leona, "With magic." He sat back in the chair, waiting for the cop to respond angrily, like the others had before.

Well, that's it. We just got in more trouble than we were already in.

Edwin waited, if the officers thought they were mocking them, this could get pretty ugly, but if they took it as no more than a joke it could help ease the mood.

If they took it seriously though... But what were the odds?

"She seems nice." James smiled. "She was there, you know, she knows about us now." He laughed, "finally had the chance to give myself a properly dramatic introduction."

Rob blinked, and looked to James in a neutral way, expertly suppressing the emotion of surprise that wanted so badly to show on his face.

"Knows about us," he repeated and blinked again, looked in front. Was it too much to hope for a friendship with a person who thought he was normal, and not some secret society Knight fighting demons? He guessed it was, it wasn't like anyone from school knew him as anything else than the 'monotone kid'. In fact, if it wasn't for him being a Knight he probably wouldn't have any friends.

Still... it hadn't seem like Ashlyn had judged him, even when she hadn't known he was a Knight.

"I thought regulars couldn't see surges," he said and walked into the hospital room and he waved to Ben and Shana. Two police officers walked in and began asking questions. James answered and said Rob had seen more. Rob looked to the officers square in the face and replied without hesitation. He had always had a perfect poker-face.

"I was outside the prom from some fresh air, I saw a man trying to carry Shana and Ben away. His hands were full so I charged into him and Shana and Ben escaped. More of them came from the van and started shooting at us. More people - the people you have in custody, came out because of the noise and the men started shooting at them."

That was the best explanation, Rob thought. It explained why everyone was where the police found them, and Rob had made up the story of there just being one man at first because even he knew he wouldn't be believed if he told them the truth. According to the public they were just teenagers, and a couple teenagers weren't supposed to fare well against a dozen and a half grown men.

Hello =)

So we've reaced a point, where I'd like to ask for your opinions. With Sha'Theoxis active I have some leeway what the oficers noted and what they didn't, but the situation (without the demon explanation Charmed-style) looks bad. There are definitely bodies of the dead Voidbringers, and we need some kind of explanation for them.

I see some solutions without our characters ending up in jail, like one of the officers knowing about investiture and stepping in, obscuring the facts, or maybe someone from the government. Or maybe they just can't explain and it never comes to a trial. Or we blame the Voidbringers and they end up imprisoned.

Still I don't want to decide this on my own and so I'd like to ask all of you for your opinions and ideas. I feel like it will have some impact on his this will go on, and I'd like for us to decide together where to take the rp from here. I know I'm rping the NPCs at the moment, but for me it's something we create together, plot we write together, situations we solve together.

Thanks a lot!

Shana listened to Rob's story and added some more half-truths around his words.

"We were attacked. They stabbed Ben and told me to keep quiet, so I did and followed them. Then everything was chaos and there was Rob and he freed us. We had to stay close to the Van, because Ben couldn't walk and suddenly there were shots and people shouting, and more came out of the Van -"

She fell silent realized she had no idea how explain her own injury. Thorvaldson raised an eyebrow and then started to write down their accords. Shana suspected that there were holes, large holes, but at least it sounded more or less like a consistent story.

"I see. Can you please describe those with the guns?"

Miller sighed.

"Magic and demons."

He looked at them again and shook his head.

"I see..."

For a moment he was quiet then he leaned over to Eiss, wrote something on a sheet of paper.

Could you please fetch someone experienced with teens and trauma?

he asked her and then looked back at Flid, before his eyes moved slowly over all of them.

"So let's say there were demons and magic. Could you, or one of your friends please describe exactly what happened? Who was injured when, how many demons were injured?"

Jamie grinned in what she hopped was an unnerving way at the mirrored wall. "I don't know who you think your fooling," she remarked calmly, "I know you're watching me."

She was an old hand at these kinds of interviews, and in her experience, mouthing off usually led to a response.

She wasn't disappointed. Within a minute, the door opened and an older man stepped in, wearing a uniform. "Jamie Darton." he said flatly, "Current resident of Washington DC, registered owner of several firearms, and now, suspect in a mass shootout. So tell me, was it gang related?"

"Depends on your definition of 'gang'. I would say it was closer to a mob war. Execpt for that fact that it's literally nothing like a mob war."

"Most of the other... living combatants are underage. Care to explain?"

"Well I could, but you wouldn't believe me." Jamie responded, smirking at the man, "I will, however, tell you that every single one of those deaths were in self defence. Those people, they attacked us, tried to kidnap some of our own. I'm not sorry that I had to do what I did, but I wish it hadn't happened like it did."

The cop raised an eyebrow, seeming a bit uncertain.

“They were big,” Rob said, showing a hand above him to indicate a tall height.

“The one I saw taking Shana and Ben, he had black hair. Brown skin.” And a tattoo. Criminals always had a tattoo.

“And a tattoo of a dolphin on his neck. The others — I didn’t see them much, they were covering their faces and I was too distracted by the shootout.”

“The only reason it happened was because two of our friends were kidnapped by them.” Leona said. “They were beaten up and then put in a van which I slowed down with a massive piece of cake.” Seeing their strange expressions, she added, “I can turn air into cake.”
