I agree with Ene. Let's move to the entrance.

Shana wants to talk to James, but Wyndle and me could do that in a pm, so that you don't have to wait for us. It's kind of important for her so I'd rather not skip that. Or we just do it in the thread, it shouldn't take too long.

The other thing I'd like to happen, I covered with my post.

Shana handed out dough to everybody who was interested and then remembered something.

She walked back inside, moved things from her table to the floor and started to search for arguments for Rob. She summed them up, added examples and figures, and once she was finished she made another list, full of information about what his opponents might say and how he could reply to their arguments.

It took her a while, but when she walked back down she hoped she had enough fodder for him to get through the debate without leaving the room after one sentence.

She returned to Evelyn with an apologetic glance and handed Rob the pages.

@I think I am here.

What's going on with Rob?

Do you mean the pages? That's just some homework Shana offered to help with.

Rob took the pages, and not knowing what they were began to flip through them, realisation dawning on him. His eyes widened slightly, the only emotion shown though inside it was a cocktail of surprise and gratitude.

“This is... a lot,” he said, looking up to Shana. “You really didn’t have to do so much.” He was at a loss for words but he hoped it wasn’t so obvious on his face as he thought it was. “It must have... taken a while.”

"It did."

Shana nodded and smiled when she saw the gratitude in his eyes, how he searched for words. Not that she would ever tell him, that it was written all over his face, she knew he prefered to remain a stone.

"Just do me a favor and don't tell them they're wrong and leave the room."

She grinned and finally started roasting some of the dough for herself.

"If I say I help, I do it. And it was more fun than maths."

Which she still hadn't done. Well she would get up early tomorrow, try to remember what Ben had told her and write something down. It didn't really matter, as long as she had more than an empty sheet of paper. She could hardly tell her teacher, that she had to fight some demon-like being in her sleep. That sounded like she was taking drugs.

Evelyn sat, listening to everyone talking. The topics were varied, mostly about homework, though she did hear something about a dance. Shana went inside and came back a bit later with some papers for Rob. Evelyn looked around once more before slipping away. Nothing much seemed to be happening, and she'd like to see more of the house.

Rob nodded. “Thanks,” he said. Turning, he walked back into the house, up the stairs and into his room, placing the papers reverently on his desk for tomorrow, and making his way back. She’d really helped him, and Rob had no idea how to repay her.

When he arrived back at the backyard he began following people’s lead, roasting some of the dough, before trying out some marshmallows.

Shana leaned over to James and made a questioning guesture towards the house. It was getting late, maybe they could talk now?

@Wyndlerunner

James caught Shana's glance and gesture, and nodded. I wonder what she wants to talk about He mused to himself as they walked towards the house

Also, Sorana, if you're looking for a nickname to call me, 'Ene suggested Wyn in a PM, and I've just kind of rolled with it.

Shana led him into the living room and closed the door behind them. It was empty for now, almost everybody was outside at the fire.

"How do I know if I'm walking towards breaking my oath?"

She asked slowly.

Sure, Wyn it is. Thx for telling me.

Outwardly, James kept his face calm, however, inwardly he began panicking Oh Lights I don't know If I'm experienced enough to handle this! James thought, panic stricken. "Well," he managed to get out, "You'd have to tell me what your oath was, and what actions you've been taking that make you feel like you're breaking it."

James was sure he looked even paler than usual as he hoped desperately that he wasn't making the situation any worse

He was paling and she was about to leave, then decided to stay. He was a bondsmith. He was supposed to know such things.

"The usual one."

She replied, stared at her clasped hands.

"I haven't spoken another one, yet."

Getting up she started to walk around nervously.

"Let's talk about that oath."

"There was no need to burn Rob's flesh. If I had been strong enough, to accept my defeat - but it was easier to hurt him, than to face the fact that he is stronger. I knew my surge could be fatal, but it was nothing more but a game. I wanted to try it out, did you see how he watched the fire? I scarred him, I hurt him, because I was weak."

She made an angry wave with her hand then went on.

"And he's not even mad at me. He's just kind and nice and hiding behind his mask. He only agreed to all of that because I was scared. He nearly died only to help me."

"I am a monster James. That's why I'm here. That's the only thing I can do. Nobody needs a nice Dustbringer. You need someone willing to kill and to fight. Not someone scared of their surge and unable to win a single fight. I'm useless and Doc knows. I feel like a huge mistake. You will die if I mess it up, if I don't train enough, but I can't train it. Not without killing someone first."

Panic! Panic! How Am I supposed to respond to that! James found himself struggling to maintain a level of dignity and serenity. "I know this sounds cheesy," He said, somewhat hesitantly,"but I only know one thing for sure- You're no monster." James said, confidence beginning to fill him. "and if that makes you feel useless, like you can't help us in this war. Well, I say to hell with that war!" James put a hand on her shoulder, and forced some of the intensity out of his voice, "You aren't useless though Shana, far from it. Those who fight for something, or someone, they love will always maintain a nobility and a power the rest of them cannot touch."

Shana thought about his words. There was some merrit to them. fight for something. Maybe it was more important what she was fighting for than how good she was fighting for it. Shana smiled at him and put her hand on his.

"Thanks James."

With a sigh she look at the ceiling.

"Do you think Doc will be mad, if I have to repeat the year? Some of my grades are so bad, I'm not sure if I can polish them up enough in the second half of the year to not fail completely."

Rob roasted the dough thing they had made and he munched on it happily. He looked around, saw the pool at a small distance away. “Hey,” he said.

“You guys want to see a cool trick?”

Okay, sorry, Rob, your cool trick is making a timeskip happen because that's what's happening now.

*HITS THE TIMESKIP BUTTON* Whoa, we're in the future...

Leaving it open as to who's in here.

Cassie pulled up to the front of the school and glanced at the back two rows of the van. "Okay, everyone, we're here. Remember, no Abrasion on the dance floor and don't Lash anyone to the wall so you can steal their date. I volunteered as a chaperone, so either bribe me with chocolate or no funny business." She grinned at them and hit the unlock on her car key.

I thought Cassie was a teen? Oh well

Leona stepped out of the car. It had taken her forever to get ready. But it was worth it. She had a full face of makeup that highlighted the colors in her eyes and made her lips look fuller. Her hair was pinned up in a complex braid she wasn’t even going to pretend to understand. She’d put extra tape on her ankle so she could wear the heels she’d picked out. But while most teens were trying to smuggle in booze, Leona had brought a massive container of play doh and a pair of knives - one never knew when there’d be a voidbringer attack.

“No funny business.” she whispered to Onyx.

fine.

She walked inside the school. The gymnasium had been completely transformed. She admired the decorations, then noticed a chocolate fountain and made a beeline for it.
