The bond would break, but as a first-oath that wouldn't kill your spren. Not being aware of it could allow him to form another bond, although it would be harder. He would forget about spren entirely.

A healthy dose of self-confidence never hurts when it comes to fighting Sha-thoexis, but it's certainly not a guarantee. After all unless you're experienced (or receive help) you're going to be fighting in a dream-state. What sort of things is Jason afraid of?

Sha-thoexis-induced nightmares are technically a fight, too, just one where she isn't attacking as strongly. Shana is definitely one of the most at-risk people right now, though, especially given that she's likely never faced anything like this before.

You can hear her when you're awake, if you're in an area where she is strong. She's a spren (and a very cognitive one, too) so no physical form. (Sorry. )

I thought that because Shanna is asleep and in the right mindset contact is a given and Luther could easily be wrong.  He only thinks something is happening he is not an expert on REM(ordinary nightmares for example would look basically the same from the outside).

Jason walked into the house, smiling at Ax. They'd gone to a concert earlier in the morning and just hung out at his apartment the rest of the day. He felt happy, and then was assaulted by the confusing scene he found in the living room. "Hi... guys... Are you okay? You look kind of freaked out..." If he'd known about magic, that would make all this much easier. He didn't, though, which would cause a bit of a struggle in this situation.

"What's with the serious talk my friend? You sound awesome."
