+Invocation Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) How much of the overlap between names of other Shards and characters on separate worlds is because there is influence from other worlds and how much is just Brandon being Brandon and giving us a scavenger hunt? (I.e.: Aon Ati, Kenton Street) Edited August 21, 2018 by Invocation
0 Calderis he/him Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) I'd say about 50/50. A lot of the things Brandon has flat out said is coincidence (shash in both SA and Warbreaker, Aon Ati and Ati, multiple characters named Cob) and some of the things are intentional seeds. Which are which? No clue. Have fun with that. Edited August 21, 2018 by Calderis 1
0 RShara she/her Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 The meta answer is likely that Brandon likes the sound of some letter combinations and ends up using them more often (or because he's trying for a specific name, like Matisse). The in-world answer could be that many of the languages have a common root, from Yolish, and so some similarities pop up from time to time.
