There was a bright Light, and a woman stepped from it, muttering to herself. Everything she touched seemed to take a distinct shade of red.

”Why do I feel like I got the worse end of that bargain?”

She looked at the other woman. “Who are you?”

“We need that… that Ennuler… stand in.”

At the echo’s character place

The woman glared at him. “Golly indeedle.”

Jilu stared as the woman grabbed the angel boy. “Oh dear.”

As she looked at the woman, the strangers and their surroundings started to turn red.

Jilu snapped under her breath. “Stop that.”

The surroundings and Echo’s character turned back to their usual color. “Terribly sorry about that.”

the boy chuckled. "Wowow that was cool!" He patted @echo74'echo74's characters head. "There there. It's all good."

the boy suddenly frowned "person... no im not a person." He grinned again. "But im sure I can help you find one." He smiled.

Sequence grew more and more concerned as Atlas spoke, gently raising one hand to cover her mouth. “… No, no you’re not cursed, Atlas.” She says quickly, leaning forward and gently taking Atlas’s hand in hers. “Bad things just happen sometimes, and it isn’t your fault… I promise.”

Sequence nodded with a weary sigh. “That is very true.” She shook her head, looking up at the night sky. “I really don’t want to fight you, Rebus. I know you’re set on doing… What you do, but I still hope you might reconsider.” She said softly, looking back down at Rebus. “…More tea?”

“Cricket’s absence was mostly unrelated to me. Bacon, likewise - I try not to eliminate characters entirely, especially when they lack a replacement.” Everything Rebus said was true, as always. Of course, one can fit many lies in a truth.

His name is Jim, if I recall.
“If you knew the meaning of life, why would you keep it secret?” asked Jack, intrigued.
“You tracked the other travelers - the Corruption Beacon goes to the same place they did. Further insurance, though, might very well be circumvented - my clone lacks the connection to Abstract, and hence does not have to hold to my promises. Of course, having a conscience means he’s more likely to do it anyway.”

“It can - should you provide feedback, I should be able to get the exact colors, and could actually place the lights within your eyes should you not be averse to further bodily incorporation of your magic.” Clusters of lights, three or four variations to each Draftable color, appeared in the air as nanomachines lit up. “In fact, this here-“ Rebus held out a small cylinder, which would appear to a modern observer as a particularly futuristic flashlight “-can produce enough light to duplicate the execution method from quite a significant distance. Up close, the sheer amount of light can easily vaporize steel. It is a window into a star, after all.”

Rebus was there, all right. His armor was more elaborate than usual, with a longer cape edged in embroidered hexagons. Antagonist was the same, though the outfit seemed to point towards the dark ground, and the mix of friendly smile and triumphant smirk on Rebus’s face.
Rebus had noticed Cricket, though he didn’t show it - he decided to let Sequence welcome him, and to let Cricket begin whatever dramatic confrontation he had in mind.

Maybe a little violence.

“I would accept, should you wish to give it,” Rebus said, following Sequence’s gaze, though he could not truly see the stars. “And your unwillingness to fight me is perhaps to my benefit - you have one of the half dozen weapons I believe could pose a threat to me.”
