He barely stopped himself from adding something embarrassing. He wondered where that had come from.

Corysande took hold of Holt's free hand and tugged him along. A rasping scream echoed among the cacophony of wails, piercing through the phantom sound of rushing water. She swore and started running.

She flushed and muttered 'thanks' underneath her breath. Then she tugged him forward and the rest of the way across.

There were four mirrors, and they mirrored the gesture, though all but one still had tattoos.

That works, though you don’t have to. He’s not really wanting to do epic quests or anything (and anyway he’d effectively complete them all by himself), just to follow Symbol’s advice and have character moments.
