Rebus returned the gesture, smiling.

"Thank you. I know of you, and I have met your brother and Author. You'll need to pay attention if you want my help, though - are you willing to do that?"

Welcome back!

Rebus smiled. "Excellent. Your Author does make things more interesting - it nearly killed me when she disappeared, actually." They were in a small room, now, shiny chrome and effectively featureless.

Tam gritted her teeth. He got you. Did you- the world skipped a moment, Tam snapping to a new position. -to him?

"Uh . . . sure."

"Good. You wanted a task, to help you stay alive. You also need a gimmick - otherwise, the second Cricket comes back you will be overshadowed. I can supply both."

"Oh . . . really?"

He looped his arms under hers and held her there until she could stand on her own.

"You s-sure?" he asked, teeth chattering. "Are you very cold or dizzy or anything?"

AAAAAAAAAHAGAHAHAHAHA HEHEHEHEHE HES SO CUTE GIGGLING KICKING MY FEET I SHIP SO HARD

“I’m a little dizzy,” she admitted.

The wall started to part at the seam Corysande had found earlier, just above the water’s edge.

"Yes. As a quest, I would recommend searching for the Plotblade Motivation, which I have heard rumors of - if you bring it to me, I can give you a favor and help you further. As for a way to differentiate yourself from Cricket, you could either get a unique ability, or think through your mindset further, so you act differently. I can assist with both."

Hehe! :D

He watched the wall warily.

"Do you think you'll be able to walk?"

Utility stood nearby, watching.

“The entrance,” she panted. “It’s opening for us.”

She gulped down more air. She felt a little dizzy, and her knees were weak. She’d never done this while mortal before.

“I-I’m okay,” she stammered.

So you noticed what he's doing?

Rebus nodded, watching Narratively and ready to intervene.

"I'm coming."

He went to the man's room, opening it hesitantly.

He watched the wall warily.

"Do you think you'll be able to walk?"

She opened her mouth to say yes, but quite frankly, she wasn’t sure. She hesitated.

By now, the wall had opened wide enough to allow passage through—it revealed a spiraling staircase downward. A dim glow came from somewhere beyond the staircase.

"Th-the Underworld."

"Y-yeah. Come on."

The chair squawked reassuringly.

My thoughts exactly :ph34r::P

“We need Hades’ help to find Charybdis.”

My dude, the whole reason I sent Utility in the first place was to prevent Rebus from getting to him :P

The inside was dirty, and poorly lit. It was a single-roomed space, with an open door leading to a small bathroom.

Two mattresses laid on the floor. A little boy with dark hair -he couldn't have been more than five- sat on one, and the thief leaned over the other, his back towards Stone.

The little boy's eyes went wide when Stone came in, and he froze.

Utility had gone invisible again.

Holt was . . . almost literally carrying everyone, now.

He sighed internally and stepped towards the entrance.

He is still walking on his own, just close

Yes, that's part of it - it did work briefly, too, but then I was bored.

But Rebus has also been choosing his words very carefully.
