Tam was harassing Rose for harassing Bat - I believe both Rebus and Malevolence were around, and they were in the space warehouse preparing to fight what’s-his-name. Tam either drew a bird or made a bird Rose drew come to life, and then had it peck at her. If I recall, Rebus had a speech about messing with people sophisticatedly rather than pettily.
Tam floated higher, Narritive power swirling around her. YOU HURT BAT! HOW COULD YOU! She lifted her arms, and paper came into existence around her, swirling in the updraft such a concentration of raw power often created.
Rebus smiled. “Oh, I do have substantial trauma - my mind is simply well suited to the experience of being imagined. Each time my Author thinks about me, I can feel it, taking actions that mean nearly nothing. A normal person would go insane - perhaps I am a little insane - but as long as my characterization holds firm my Author won’t take the psychological effects of the endless loop of nothingness into account.”

@Bird Furious

“Case in point.” Rebus said to the Author. “I do understand your technical issues, but I need to act.”

A copy of him appeared near a new or idle character played by whatever Author happened to be watching.

He chuckled.

"Well, once we're done here, do you have any other ghosts on your radar?"

She smiled and gave him a small hug.

"This looks delicious. Thank you," she told Mrs. Whitlock.

"Uh, yeah, good morning."

He went and sat by her.

"How'd you sleep?"

Did you see that Utility responded to Stone?

nooo

can you quote it?

@Bird Furious did you respond to tree dude?

"Perhaps I must take up that role." Nameless stroked his chin. "There seems to be precious little place for me in any of the plots ongoing otherwise."

"Nameless' medallion... didn't the Dreamsmith have that?"

As he sat, Rebel felt a faint jolting sensation. Then, suddenly, he felt a presence watching him. You... I did not notice you before now. Who are you hiding from? The voice that spoke in his head carried a regal air, words echoing with power.

"It's fine." Moni shrugged. "My Author... wants me to grow, I guess. So if you hadn't dragged me off on this quest, then he would have made someone else do it."

The king looked at each of the hunters in turn. "Very well. I believe your story." The pressure in the room vanished in an instant, and he walked back to his throne and sat down. "I will not surrender my crown to anyone. It is a sacred artifact. Take that message back to your master, if you can get out before the rifts seal shut and trap you here."

--

"Oh, my apologies for not introducing myself. I am the Dreamsmith."

"Hm." Subversion exerted her will, commanding the Enuller to drop the shield and do a handstand.

"Very well. I shall do so, in a bit." The voice laughed wryly. "Too busy now. Have to go somewhere."

The Ennuller promptly did as Subversion had Narrated.

The reflection shook her head. “There’s no catch! As long as you stay with me, you’ll be happy like me.”
Rebus nodded. “Alright. Shall we go?”

The orb floated there, trying to interface with the tree.

Alrighty! Do you want me to have them show up, or will Bat and Tam come looking for them?

“You are correct - he showed it to me when I did my trial.”
Rebel determined that he probably couldn’t lie to this voice. “Rebus - the Narrator who created me. I’m a depowered clone of him, but he wants to kill me. I suspect he won’t be able to come here - or at least won’t risk it.”

The veins of power pulsed around the orb. They seemed... lost.

She nodded and looked down at her food.

Basically he asked if he could assist Stone.

"Yeah." he said, nodding. "Yeah, I can."

Stone nodded, noting that Stone's grammar was horribly wrong.

"Alright. What do you wish to do?"

He stood there awkwardly.

Tam let him.

She doesn't like that someone appeared in the safe haven she created :P

Stone nodded.

"I believe all of your family is dead, except your brother, who is otherwise occupied at the moment and should not be bothered," he stated flatly.

"Oh . . . okay." Stone finished, lamely. Should he have felt sorrow? He had no connection to them. And his brother? "Wait . . . Cricket? Is he okay?"

Mrs. Whitlock beamed. "You're quite welcome. I've rarely cooked with vegetables before. It was a fascinating experience."

Orchid woke up and flew down from the tree.

She ignored him.

Actually, she froze him into a block of cold water for fun.

He didn't particularly like her idea of fun. "Hey! Let me out!"

"You've- oh, right, you had different foods in the caverns . . . well, I'm glad you enjoyed it," she said with a grin.

"Oh, hey, Orchid. How'd you sleep?"

"Probably for the best."

"Yeah..." she said, looking up at the sky.

He fell through the roof into a cozy- looking bedroom. A girl in her early teens was laying on the bed looking bored while her two younger siblings play-acted. The older one, maybe seven, wore a blanket cape and held a poker scepter while she ordered the younger one to fetch random things, which he did happily, giggling.

“Saving Eleven.”

She hesitated.

"I'll . . . tell you that in a minute."

Eleanor appeared. "Boo!"

"So, where to?"

-

Tam jumped and sent her somewhere else.

NO MORE NEW PEOPLE, she cried to the Authors, setting up protections to prevent more characters from spawning in.

Sorry :P

She's stressed :P

Couldn't stop her 🤷‍♀️
