She considered him thoughtfully. “I’ll offer you options.”

Irie yawned and eyed the doorway, then walked through.

"How'd you do that?"

The bandit paused, sensing magnets (), and looked down at Bat.

"Whatever you'd like."

The cave was purple and full of a reddish mist. Corysande’s spine tingled. 

She didn’t like that. She spooked and ran back to the entrance.

“I’d personally recommend the first or the last. In the case of the first, I’m sure my Author would be willing to create a path for you. In case of the last, you could come with me, as that is what I am seeking. The other two would likely require you to go off on your own.”

Aden was not encouraged by her lack of reaction. 

Maybe she didn’t even care anymore… 

But she’d been so upset earlier. 

And he still didn’t know if they’d been dating or not.

He nodded. “If you like, I’ll knight you into one of my order.”

“Good choice— though it will come with a troubling amount of self-consciousness. Is that all right?”

Flint was kind of confused.

He stayed pulled back. He didn't know how to act normal, at least not now. Irie made him nervous. He wanted to apologize, but he doubted she'd listen—rightfully so.  So he just walked in silence. 

 

Meanwhile, in the same plot, just in another location

Raven had never run harder. She knew it would be bad, but this... this was something else. The experiments, her friends, her family, everything. It all was still with her. They let her keep it because she thought she was doing something good. Then they separated her and her brother. She had to find him. She had to see him. I'll find you, kid. I promise. She thought. Her only thought when she ran was finding him and sticking with him.

The voice sounded… young, though. And somewhat nervous. And it wasn’t coming from behind, where they’d be chasing her.

I can do it, though as I said the Machination imitators and/or management failures can pretty much do anything an Author wants.

Lady Bug scowled at her. 

And then, something bad did happen. Many somethings, actually. The mirror in front of her had a familiar bird made of ink come up to her reflection. Another mirror had her start to disintegrate. In another, her face simply went blank. In another, rock moving like liquid crept up her legs, trapping her. In another, the world around her began to warp and distort. 
The other three mirrors - which are behind her - have her actively fighting something “in front of” the mirror, being slowly consumed in darkness, and standing there calmly, respectively. 

Rebus’s face hardened. “A mistake. I can see an accident, even a frustration, but a mistake? Symbol is my closest friend and currently holds your life in her hands, so I would consider your next words very carefully.” 
 

A magnet-burglar ran past the gathering of superheroes, and several gave chase. Rebus went with them, promising he’d be back.
