Nick eyed them, but continued on.

"Lillian? Helloooooo?"

His voice echoed around the room. In the corner, a small girl sat tracing a rune on one of the tiles. “She’s gone now,” she giggled.

”Turning on?”

She paused. “Nature preserve? What preserve?”

Alright. Any ideas?
“Yeah. Activating.” The reflections were indeed activating, becoming more animate. And they looked nervous, like someone about to rip off a bandaid - knowing there’s going to be pain, and that you can’t not do it or it’ll get worse.
Rebus gritted his teeth. “This is why I don’t lie - it makes everything more confusing. But it doesn’t matter; you’re still deflecting responsibility that should be yours. I don’t know why I ever thought it was a good idea to work with you.”

Nice! What happened? 😂

That would be hilarious- I mean, why not? 😏

Alright… How shall we do this? We kinda forgot them because of other stuff.
The Machination doesn’t actually need me - part of the point of the decentralization is that other Authors can run Machination characters without needing my input.

Ennulling cannot bring back what has been lost, said the ennuller wistfully. But the damage, at least, should be easy enough to clear away.

The orb continued hovering there, as that was for the moment all it could do. “I shall adjust my supposition.”

Perhaps they also had a mother who missed them. Perhaps she cried every day thinking about them.

But that was sad. So perhaps she was merely dead.

She nodded.

"No, that's . . . really good that you remember . . ."

She just prayed that this wouldn't give her false hope . . .

-

Okie :P

After this we should probably do something with like, the Machination or smth though

I guess if you're the Protagonist . . . I should probably be letting you deal with these . . . right? Tam said. For the most part, at least.

-

Utility sighed.

"It would appear . . . I have been forgotten."

Nick went inside.

Flint sauntered towards a cave that had maybe not been there before.

-

"Tell me more," he said eagerly.

Something thudded above them.

Thirteen swore under her breath.

-

mmm yeah we prolly should

"I guess that's true..."

If he was the Protagonist.

-

"You were indeed," Symbol replied. "No longer."

Maybe she was watching over her sons as a ghost. Maybe she whispered in their ears that she loved them.

Lady Bug growled, fury boiling up in her throat.

"Don't be so hard on her, by the way," Symbol told Rebus. "For so long, her very nature was frivolous and curious."

"I changed more quickly than you realize."

Oh, really? Interesting . . .

Of course, if you want to run a Machination plot, you're totally welcome to :P

Irie stood and asked where to go, not having any personal items of her own to collect.

She shrugged and released the thieves.

Bat sighed.

Can you take them maybe 😅

The physical reflection looks just as confused. “I’m not getting context anymore. They are, though. Something bad is about to happen.”
Rebus almost laughed. “I did the same, you know. I created splits and backups, and I rewrote myself to function as I needed to. Your very nature is not frivolity, it is change! You should have made yourself someone who could do what you wanted - there’s a reason you’ve been surpassed.”

Alright (though I have a few plots to get through before starting a new one, and anyway there are some other ideas I’ve had). If you want me to run it though, I certainly can.

It doesn't have to be terribly complicated or long (unless you want it to be), but you know better the Machination's premise, attitude, probable goals, etc . . .

You don't have to if you don't want to, though. I won't pressure you :D

She considered him thoughtfully. “I’ll offer you options.”
