Aden was irritated by this and also got off. He kicked the railing of the stairs on the way down.

Aden didn’t look at her. He knew he should want to reconcile with her or something— and he did— but he was tired of being treated like the problem. She could come apologize when she wanted to be friends. She would, wouldn’t she, if she really cared about him?

No, the problem was that the Aden she knew was dead. Torn apart and ripped away by Violet and whoever else had aided her, and that Irie felt too numb to actually process it.

Or she had until she and Starlight had fought.

Oh well.

Asher blinked for a second... she'd never kissed someone before. But she'd seen a grand total of one romcom. She decided to go with the flow. She also leaned in.

Apparently my sqeeling is suspicious. My fams looking at me weird.

Asher was grinning like an idiot. That was strangly awesome. She had this dreamy happy but in a way she had never looked before. Geuine joy.

 

atlas nods. "Yeah."

The paper reads. Atlas, I'm not dead. I got kidnapped but i was able to get this letter to you. Im on the world. Comatose. I heard people talking about someone named scribe. They seem to be scared of him. Please don't worry about me. Your brother ben.

Atlas shook her head. No. no. "Did you say ben?" She gives herself reading abilities and snatches the paper from him and reads through it. "Ben. Is. Alive. How do we get to this comatose!"
