Or… or something’s going to happen. He plopped back onto the ground and watched a leaf fall from the canopy. He felt kind of ashamed for yelling at her now. She’d been trying to… what had she been trying to do again? Something good. She was a good person. So why was he mad at her? The leaf settled on the ground, turning black and brittle like ash.
