"Of- of course. Should we go see what it is?"

"Another person?" She frowned. "I don't know. It could be dangerous. I wouldn't want you or Enrik to get hurt."

"I'm sure it's fine. I can go ahead, if you'd like."

She nodded slowly. "That makes sense. Just... just come back, okay?"

Sure. Yep, totally, she said absently, walking into the building.

Silence.

Bat decided to wait outside for her for some reason. He stared at the ground and tried to make a rock vanish and come back and vanish and come back and vanish and come back and vanish again.

Nope. You dug yourself into this hole, you gotta get yourself out of it. If you want to be cool (I refuse to say meta), make sure you actually have something concrete, first.

In any case, Tam entered a room in the back with a staircase that led down into a basement.

She walked down it, but there didn't seem to be anything there, so she walked back up and out.

Hmm.

"Aright."

He sped towards the sound.

Lillian started griddying while she was waiting. At least, that's what her Author said. Maybe she did. Maybe she didn't. I guess we'll never know, right?

Anyways, the sound.

A pre-teen boy, maybe eleven, lay on the forest floor, unconscious.

Well, that can't be good, Nick thought to himself.

There were footprints leading away from the boy and off the trail.

He sped back to Lillian, told her what he'd seen, and then went back to follow the trail.

The footprints were gone.

Even more concerning.

He followed the direction they'd been in, earlier.

Another scream.

Lillian.

CRUD.

He ran back to her as fast as he could.

"Lillian?!"

A broad-shouldered man stood in front of the police department, where she'd been standing before. Lillian was collapsed on the street, a trickle of blood running down her forehead. She didn't seem to hear Nick.

Pop.

The man and Lillian disappeared. Enrik lay on the side of the street, barely breathing.

Slightly panicked, Nick rushed over to the rat, unsure what else to do.

". . . Enrik? Hey, buddy . . ."

The rat stirred. Then, in a deep macho voice, he said, "Me-mo-rees. Mu-see-um."

She scowled. I’m guessing you had a plan already, then.

Duh.

Suddenly, before Symbol could react, a jagged spear of red crystal shot as if from nowhere towards her, slicing through her torso like a warm knife through butter.

The same happened to Tam, and she screamed before Narrating it away.

Symbol gritted her teeth against the pain and Narrated herself away, then made herself unable to feel pain.

Bat jumped up. “Tam— you okay? What was that?”

It's okay; no need to apologize ^_^:P

Goodnight :D

Sleep well :sylheart:

Tam gasped and healed herself, the ground in front of her splattered with blood.

F-fine. Dunno. Some of the crystals from earlier . . . ? she forced out.

Stabbed me . . . I'm fine though.

@TwinStorm

Amethyst followed suit, clambering into the small cave. In the back corner, however, was an old man, who looked more like a ghost, transparent along the edges, his outline frayed and blurred.

8 hours ago, Halcyon The Only said:

Scud… okay. I missed a lot.

I suppose a quick recap is too much to ask

She pretended not to notice, even as she felt herself blushing.

Words were stamped into Cricket’s mind. Careful. She’s watching you, and she’s very unstable. I’ll be releasing the records soon.

“Yes. That sounds good.”

Oop I meant metaphorically 😅 he’s mad at her so he’s just kinda using the book to hide

Bat shrugged.

Doing anything important? Symbol asked.

She grinned. “I live in a hollow tree up there! It’s perfectly safe. Nobody else is around anymore, since the… you know.”

KHIONE

I HAVE A CHARACTER WITH THAT NAME IN ONE OF THE STORIES I CREATED THAT DIDNT HAVE AN ENDING BUT HAD A CRAP TON OF WORLDBUILDING AND HISTORY

I miss that story

Cricket smiled for a moment, but frowned as soon as he heard the words. "What? Did you hear that?"
