“How we doin, Aden?” he asked, still worried

“Good,” he muttered, focusing. “Three more.”

"A . . . fruit tree? Who? Where?"

-

She nodded and looked at Aden.

"You got all that?"

“Dunno.”

-

He nodded. “In a minute… almost there.”

Everet shook his head. “I’ll come with you. Give me… I don’t know, something useful. A cape, maybe? Those are useful, right?” Rebus obliged, and gave Everet a dashing cape.

HAHAHA I LOVE THAT

“Can you fly?” She asked Everet. “I could carry you if not. If you wanna fly.”

She sighed.

"When was it?"

Anyone they'd know of? :P

"Almost there with what?"

She watched for a minute.

"Wait, nevermind. Got it."

He sat, tapping his foot impatiently. “Not trying to rush you, but the longer you take the closer she gets to dying”

“How would I do that?” Everet said, lifting into the air. “Aah!”
Rebus tried not to smirk. “I figured you’d need some powers to go with the cape, so whoever wears it last can make it and things near it hover. It also can also block things and slowly repairs itself.”
Everet’s eyes went wide. “Really? Thank you!”

She glared at him.

"Well then. Do you have even the slightest idea where this person was?"

-

"Nice."

I’d considered just having the first sentence, but I decided clarity was more important.
Everet hovered over, knocking into the door frame and dropping back to the ground to walk normally. “How do you manage it? I can’t even get down a hallway in the air.”

Torrent turned toward them and grinned. Wind whipped around her.

“Go home, children,” she called, voice grating. “Leave the adults to their fun.”

Most of the civilians were gone by now.

Rebel’s utility fog consumed the bodies of the guards, assembling into the clothes the mural put him in. “If I’m a warrior-king, perhaps I can command them. If they attack, ceremonial weapons are nothing against you and nanotechnology.”

Their weapons are magical, and their leaders have long been corrupted by their desire for my power. They will not serve you.

“It is strange, and perhaps a bit suspicious. What do you mean by downplaying?”

Someone was misrepresenting the power of Narrators. It always gets on my nerves.  Nameless's eye stopped twitching. Looks like they're done. So, what's your guess? I'm going with alternate reality version of Malevolence.

Balitan broke his eyes away from the hologram. "He could be a relative. I never knew my family growing up."

1 hour ago, Dragonheir said:

To clarify, Rebus was the one he had the drone stab, though he put Malevolence in line with him so he can potentially get them both (though ironically, he’s also not in his armor). My syntax was confusing.

I figured that could be the case, which is why I wrote it somewhat vague as to where the drone was launching Malevolence from. Explanatory comic:

Spoiler

Malevolence swept the Mordite blade through Rebus's armor in the blink of an eye, then hit the ground hard and rolled, crashed, and tumbled before finally being stopped by a wall just outside the teleportation field. He teleported away on impact.
