She snickered.

You really believe in Authors? That’s cute.

Some sort of Scribe would like to interject to say that, yes, Authors are very much real, seeing as he recieves direct instruction from his.

Alright.

I just… alright this is gonna be a lot. gore warning.

An unsettling zoom and he was in a house. There was three kids. One was around 13 years of age and the other two seemed like nondescript blue ghost that were around little kid or toddler age. The girl that had a definitive figure had blue hair but looked black at some angles and was skinny. She had on red pajamas and light blue eyes. She was laughing and stacking blocks with the nondescript kids. To the side was an adult also light blue and nondescript. She was reading a book.

“Let’s see how high we can get it.” The girl said. The figures said a muffled reply. They sat there for a while laughing and talking. They heard the door open and stood up exited. “Father’s home!” The girl shouted. The adult (likely the mother) went to greet father but father had a knife, he looked at mother with crazy insane eyes. The girl looked a lot like him, similar features hair and eyes. “You’re trying to take it. My money. My life.” Father said and lunged at mother stabbing her in the chest. Blood splattered on his clothes and face. His gleaming silver knife dripped with red blood. The kids hid behind the girl and the girl had a shocked terrified look on her face. Her hand was over her mouth. Father looked at the kids. The girl knew what was coming. She steeled herself. As her father lunged she ran to the couch grabbing their emergency daggers. Two black knives made of mordite. She got into a fight with father. She was no match. She was a wiry girl so what would she do. “father! What are you doing” she yelled at her father.

I WONT LET YOU HAVE IT! He shouted.

she faught. Well more of a frantic defense. He lunged in and struck her face on the cheek slicing it open. She screamed and pushed back a bit. She was loosing. He struck her again making a deep gash in her nose. Blood ran down her face and got in her mouth. He made another strike hitting her right eye. It blinded her enough to open up to a death strike. He jabbed her in the heart and twisted. Her eyes widened. She felt cold. She felt the fear from her siblings. Her life flashed. The good memories, the bad ones. Mostly good. Tears fell mixing with the blood making her cough. She fell backwards. She saw her dad kill both her siblings to. She wasnt enough to protect them. The world fades to black.

Ok there’s more. But i want to get his reaction to that first. Then I’ll write more out. Heh my fingers hurt

Pyk, for the first time since the incident, saw.

It was not the half-sight he had endured and mastered. It was not a subpar substitute. It was, he was sure, the real thing. Color… how had he forgotten about that?

And what he saw horrified him. He had rarely been around any fights since Dint supposedly died, instead focusing on science. And as he had been alienated from society, he had only grown more used to the comparatively apathetic way of which he had led his life. Isolated.

This rage, this blind anger… he was not used to it. Not used to such… proximity. He knew it happened, yes, but he also knew that fusion occurred in the stars. Didn’t mean he was familiar with the process.

Taking a shaky breath, he reoriented himself as he watched. He would be there for Asher.

He held Asher’s limp body a little tighter as the torrent of memory overtook him.

Im baaaaaaack!

And will leave for school in ~45 minutes.

Heheheheheheh more long typing

The next thing he saw was calm. The girl and her two siblings were standing in front of two giant golden gates on white clouds. Someone stood in front of them wearing all white with a halo on his head. “Welcome to heaven, it seems you have died. And we’re good enough to come here.” The gates opened.  The girl went to walk though with her siblings but was stopped. “Asher, your brave actions in protection allowed you a chance to go back down and help others.” The angel said. The girl, asher, nods. near her a smaller angel appears. Long light blue hair and a small kind face. “Hai friend!” The voice was seraphinas. “My name is seraphina! I’ll be your guide!” She started walking down a path. “We are gonna be going to the re… aliving center! And you will go back down to earth to continue your life.” They walked for a while, “we are almost there just a few mor-“

she got cut off by an attack. A guy with bigger cargo pants and chains with a leather jacket lunged at them. He knocked them all off the path and they fell. And fell. Like  a never ending fall.

after what felt like forever Asher hit something. She groaned and looked around. She was in the middle of a field of grass. When did she get here? Who was she? You idiot. A voice said in her head. Hey dont point fingers at me. Y’all’s the one with the god awful footing.”who are you!” Asher said startled. Holy rust. Her voice was…. Deeper, a bit. the last thing she remembered was….. was heaven. She was a kid. she looked down at her body. She was taller. “Ah. What’s happening!” Dont worry, we fell from heaven and me and Cade, who’s the person who pushed us, got fused into your head. Right now you’re like a half living spirit. Also years have passed. Many many years. Yeah yeah can i just.. something in her head flipped. She felt the man named Cade take over. She lost all sense of control.

Under cades guide they became an assassin. Killing for hire. They met a guy named Alex. He was also an assassin but a kind one. He always took care of them and never held grudges. He was smart to. After a bit, Asher got somewhat control if only enough to talk, and befriended him. After a while she decided to tell him what happened to her. And he was chill about it. He nodded and understood and was supportive. They worked together for a while. Until one day,

this Alex guy is! Ugh! Ok im sick of him. Im gonna do something about him. No Cade! Don’t do anything brash. Asher knew what was coming. She tried to remain in control but was only able to warn Alex of what was happening. Cade took over and killed Alex. No, no. Nonono. As Asher saw him fall she was able to force Cade back. She ran forward. “Alex! Im sorry please dont go!” She held him up. “Don’t worry little knife, i dont blame you” Alex said weakly. No! Blame her it’s her fault! Please. “Alex please-“ she begged. For what? She didnt know. “I forgive you” those were the last words to leave his mouth. she cried. For the first time in forever. Holding his body, she didnt know why she was so attached to him. But it hurt like hell.

She knew from that moment on. She would not fight. She would help. Do anything so long as it helps someone. And she was going to figure out how to fix her.

Ah

“We do. We also make them powerful beyond their wildest dreams, give them luxuries, and allow them to escape death itself. I myself need fuel for my augmentations; the heart requirement was implemented after a group of mercenaries went rogue, attacked their fellows, and went off to start a protection racket. It may not be ethical, but it works. We can’t let people out, but they get internal leave.” The Ghost pauses. “I can bring members here, if you wish. Not for too long, of course. If you wish to interview them, I can take a spread of attitudes.”

Sequence's expression grew troubled as the Ghost spoke, and she nodded. "Yes, I would like to speak to them," Sequence said calmly. "But first, do you not believe in the free will and autonomy? This is not meant as an attack, I just want to see your opinion, and know whether you feel..." Sequence cocked her head to one side, thinking for a moment. "... Remorse."

"My mental state was broken for those years I was in there. That's what happens when you are torn apart and put back together over and over... the syringes, scalpels, drills and metal plating ripping apart and being replaced or immediately sewn back together. I also remembered why I needed the artificial heart. They did so much too my body it almost stopped pumping anything. They almost offed me by accident. But I've accepted it now, and I think that was what I needed to do. Cause now... I finally feel whole. My mind and the machine were fighting for control. But not anymore. I don't know how I did it, but they work together now." he rambled, holding his hands in front of his face. "People can call me a monster. Maybe they're right. But... I know who I am now"

Rebel’s utility fog came up behind them and cut their throats simultaneously. He casually opened the door and walked out as the bodies fell.

Rebel emerged into an cavernous room, lined with ornate pillars. The walls were intricately carved with a series of engravings depicting a series of events involving rebel, showing him as a mighty warrior king that had been placed in an endless slumber by a jealous Narrator. There are more in that guard room over there. Something made Rebel look at an almost unnoticeable door, designed to blend in among the ornate stone carvings of the walls.

“I briefly thought you were him, actually - but when you revealed the EIS I decided he’d never willingly give me such a thing. I bet we could keep that resemblance in our back pocket, especially if he does somehow become ‘overlord of the Thread’. Run a Bavarian fire drill or something.”

"Sure, yeah..." Balitan continued staring at the hologram of Malevolence. "He looks just like me."

Could still be a clone. Nameless noted. Or some other trick from Malevolence. His eye started twitching suddenly. Blast it. Is someone downplaying Narrators again?

15 hours ago, Dragonheir said:

Rebus began to chuckle, suddenly spinning Malevolence to use his suit’s boosters, which were presumably still active, to move him in-line with the deadly ramming drone. “Defeat and failure are not the same thing.” He said, Plotblade flaring brightly at his side as the drone rammed through his armor, offered no resistance - sped up in fact - by the utility fog surrounding him.

Unhinged laughter rang out from Malevolence's helm. "You think you can break me? You think I will falter before death's gaze? You are wrong! I fear not death, for even death shall tremble at my name!"

At his words, Malevolence's armor broke apart into a dozen pieces that flew through the air and clamped onto Rebus, sending out pulses of Enulling energy. Beneath it was not Malevolence, but merely empty air.

At the same time, the large drone split in half with an explosion that launched half of it towards Rebus at a speed two steps above insane. This half split open to reveal Malevolence, Mordite Blade in hand. It split again, a second explosion launching Malevolence and a small disk at an even more insane speed straight towards Rebus. He raised his Mordite Blade, moving at such a speed that, despite all the laws of epic storytelling, he had no time for a dramatic final word before reaching Rebus, thrusters on the disk spinning him so that the Mordite blade would cleave the fragment of a Narrator in half from head to toe.
