She nodded and moved to the monitor. “I don’t need new scans; I’ll just set the computer to find your nanites.”

He slowly let go of her.

“Tam, they could be dying,” he whispered. “Maybe they’re already dead.”

"Fantastic. Lets get these out and going." he said, slightly cheerfully

"So I've heard. He has a couple reputations, actually, though this copy of him is the first."

"I assume so. There's something about binding a withergeist to your soul for powers - if the person binding is mind controlled, do you think that can contain one?"

Possibly. But mind controlling them in the first place would be difficult. Nameless looked up and grinned. Easier if you were to bind a withergeist yourself, but still difficult. A screen popped up next to him, and he spun it to face Rebus. Look familiar?

On the screen was a rabbit, its eyes deep black holes into nothingness.

Rebus raised an eyebrow. "We really are similar. Did you see my armor, from when I was going to fight Malan?" Sleek black and white armor teleported around him as well, with a thunderclap of displaced air. Lightning crackled into it, arcs of electricity jumping up from the floor. "I never did get a change to show it off..." He summoned his blade back to his hand, holding it at his side. It glowed, now, the gems matching the orange light from the armor's seams.

"Very showy." Malevolence held his sword in front of him in a two handed grip and slowly circled Rebus. "Did you put any thoughts into practicality?" a small laser cannon popped up from his shoulder and shot a high-intensity beam of light covering Rebus's faceplate in an attempt to blind him. Malevolence charged forward, shifting one of his hands onto the blade of his sword and attempting to ram it in between the armor plates on Rebus's knee.

Wake up. The voice entered into Rebel's mind, stirring him from his slumber. I have gathered some strength whilst you slumbered. I am ready to grow.

“It might not be that simple. We might need to hack them.”

She let go of him reluctantly, wiping her eyes.

". . . What?"

“My people, Tam!” Had she really forgotten? “Ruia, remember?”

"Oh! Oh, oh, yeah- no, I-I remember."

She sniffed and looked up at him.

"What do you want to do? D-do you have any ideas?"

She felt . . . a lot better now, for some reason.

He sighed. "Technology. What a wonder of the world." he said sarcastically. "How do you wanna do it then, Ria?"

“Wait, really?”

“That’s up to Aden,” she said. “I don’t know how it works— if it needs a wireless connection or what. I’ll be working on the antidote.”

He turned to Aden and locked eyes with him. "We gotta do this quick. Please tell me this could be easy"

Aden shrugged, climbing a flight of stairs. “It depends. If they’re well encrypted, could take hours or days.”

"Yeah . . . sorry- sorry about earlier . . . that was selfish of me." she muttered, ashamed.

“It’s okay. You were dealing with stuff.” He pulled his compass out of his pocket. “What do you think we should do?”

Spren flittered into view, hoping she hadn’t been forgotten.

"I don't know- we don't even know what's Ruia's doing right now . . . what was it that Lady Bug said earlier? That we need to remind her that she's human or something?"

"True . . . but what do we do about it? What can we do about it?"

It felt good to talk like this with him again. To have a normal conversation.

“I don’t know,” he replied, leaning against a tree. “Remind her she’s human… what else would she be?”

"She's a Narrator. She could be a lot of other things, but . . . she talked about Corruption, right?"

She didn't remember that part very well . . .

"I guess so. We just . . . I think we just need a way to find out what she's up to."

He nodded.

"You think she'd tell us?"

He looked down at his feet as they walked. “I know that. I just- I’m scared, Aden. Scared for her, scared for me, scared for all of us. What if something bad happens? What if they find us again? I just can’t help but feel something is off about all this”
