A massive figure stood in the doorway, towering over the others, holding the doorframe, shaking. He had tangled hair and beard, and wore bloodied armor, but had a piercing glance. "Where am I?" he said in a deep voice.

She sighed deeply, looking harried. “Just don’t forget last week’s check when you clock out.”

She nodded and broke away, feeling… strangely claustrophobic. And very ashamed.  

 

Bat had a couple questions of his own, but just hearing about it made him feel overwhelmed and tired, do he wandered away into the kitchen instead. 

"Rose... I..." he sighed, and placed a protection on her, preventing her from being directly Narrated. "I'm sorry. I don't know what to do."

He didn’t scare her either. At least the school had done her that much. She shoved the gun back into the holster, but her fists clenched at her sides. Peter crossed over to her, almost protectively, and gently touched her hand. She pulled away.
