The sphere rolled to the edge of the forcefield and stopped. Rebus's core was pulled towards it as if by magnetism.

Originally it was just Bat, Cricket, Rose, and myself, but then Elliot what's-his-face showed up- she jabbed her thumb at the teenager playing the drums in the background, -you two are here, now, and the other new girl by the front door. Oh, and Val, I suppose. Not really sure where he came from.

She shrugged and grinned at Peter again. So yeah.

“Typically I’d agree, and I do have some precautions in place. But Ennullers can go rogue, or people can be less threatening than anticipated.” Rebus’s core is pulled from his body, touching the sphere, as the other copy of Rebus watches from behind the force field with Balitan.
