Just now, Halcyon The Only said:

“I’m pushing because I know what those people are capable of. I’ve seen some of the toxins. She could be dying, and we wouldn’t know until she’s gone.” 

Her eyes widened and she hid in her blanket. 

Rose had left after arguing with Tam. 

She ran for several minutes before she realized that if Tam really wanted to hurt her, distance wouldn’t make a difference. She stopped by a tree and leaned against it, closing her eyes and desperately trying to stop trembling. Bat wouldn’t let anything happen to her. Cricket probably wouldn’t either— though she didn’t understand him as well yet. 

"Stop talking. You're only making it worse" he said sternly

Maybe it was cruel. Maybe she shouldn't have done that, but . . . it'd felt so good.

She'd never felt like that before. After a lifetime of being slapped around by everyone else . . . she'd actually felt powerful. Like she had control over something.

Starlight smacked the door next to him, accidentally knocking it off. "Enough out of you" he told her angrily

She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, taking some deep breaths and trying to calm herself down.

They began walking up some very long stairs. 

Their author got off at around ten forty, if anyone was wondering, and was too lazy to unbold.
