Don't people balance out strong acids with weak bases in order to not facilitate a too quick shift in blood pH?

(The original name of the Archstone was the Craëngulis, which was pronounces crayongulis, using the Cyrillic romanization. [It meant archstone in various languages, but i took liberties with it...])
