Noot suddenly found himself in a place that he had not wanted to be.

Cursed gnomes, always gnoming around and messing with a Noot's business, Noot thought bitterly.

Bookwyrm walked over to Noot.

"Uh...are you Noot?" he asked. "We need you to do something for us."

Luckily, the Speake Rattus Rattus spell was still in effect. 

"What is it, Narrator? Why has that pesky gnome brought me here?"

Esmerelda knocked Noot over the head with the pommel of her sword and stuffed him into a sack.

"That was...a bit excessive."

The gnome agreed, but was happy that Noot had been taken care of.

"You think you could have convinced the Noot to go get eaten by a giant monster?"

"I think I could have convinced him to distract the monster so we could kill it, take the key, and save him before he got eaten."

"Are there cookies inside the monster?" Noot's muffled voice comes from the bag.

"There's a very high probability he'd get eaten doing that." The sack began squirming wildly.

"YES! BUT THEY'RE ALL DIGESTED AND DISGUSTING!"

"How'd it get access to cookies down...oh, wait." Bookwyrm paused. "Nevermind."

He turned to Esmerelda. "So what's the plan?"

"We tie the Noot up and leave it hanging helplessly, then wait in the shadows to sneak attack the beast while it feeds."

Noot was all for this, as long as cookies were involved.

"Alright, let's go then."

Bookwyrm shrugged and followed Esmerelda.

Half an hour later, the group had the trap ready.

Unfortunately, the monster was nowhere to be seen.

"Strange. If it follows its pattern, then it should have been here by now."

"Maybe it's already dead." Everyone said offhandedly. They paused, then smiled. "Or maybe it's smarter than you think."

The Quarkbeast began to swim in lava.

Bookwyrm was impatient, so he decided to narrate the monster to come to them.

Ahem.

Suddenly, the monster came barrelling around the corner straight towards the trap.
