Y stares hungrily at X's avatar. She reaches out with the winds, ready to take the power that is now hers by right.

The winds brush X's avatar, and the hunger in her eyes is replaced by fury.

"What is the meaning of this?" she screams, angry winds beginning to stir around her.

Wait, I just got betrayal vibes. Are you getting betrayal vibes? After all, this is I, who's on Y's side for whatever reason. Please confirm, I don't want to take that dramatic of a step without your OK, that's big and should be decided by a vote.

Like, I feel like at this point, I (the Alphabet Person) would give Y the powers at this point, because she's on Y's side. But I didn't want to say that without a vote since it's so big.

I think the Melody X transferred the power to was the real one... Y was fully willing to trade her away if it meant getting ahold of X's power. She expected X to be more honorable than he wound up being.

"Wrong," said X's avatar, smiling. "The me you knew died. I was reborn in his place."

No, Melody is elsewhere. The Melody that was tied to the tree was I, and so it must not have changed in the time between then and now. I assumed Melody was tied up somewhere else in the forest just in case Y needed her.

Wasn't the Melody tied up to the tree an illusion, not substantial?

Also, Y would have released the real Melody once X's avatar made his promise.

No, the Melody tied up to the tree was I disguised as Melody. She can't create substantial illusions and Y pulled Melody's gag off. Sorry, I forgot I hadn't told you that.

I was envisioning Y holding Melody close to herself and pulling the gag off that way.

Nameless wondered if he should attack Y. Nameless probably would have, but it seemed a bit hasty.

 If you look back, I specified that 'Melody' was tied to a tree. So, back to the question, you gave Melody, who is actually I, your powers. Is it all right if she betrays you, or were you going in a different direction?

Okay, so if I betrays X, then Y will have enough power to escape, but she'll still have Melody tied up elsewhere. Maybe she can only escape in a specific place and keeps Melody to ensure that X will let her through? Or maybe Y just leaves and you have to find Melody? Maybe Melody already escaped? Or maybe Y escaped but I wanted to go to, so she creates a plot to escape? This is just me brainstorming, feel free to ignore or add to it.

Schrodinger summoned another group of withers to attack the Green Gargoyle and generally get the plot moving again.

I shed her disguise and walked over to Y. "Don't worry, he gave them to me. How do I give them to you? Then we can get out of this unpredictable dump."

Maybe I could betray Y and take the power for herself?

Well, she'd also need Y's power to get out. So maybe she betrays all of them and runs off? Maybe Melody is still where Y and I were keeping her, not in the forest elsewhere. I will run off and tell you guys that she'll trade Melody for Y's power. Would that work?

Nameless decided that he had to intervene. He stepped in between Y and I. "What do you think you're doing?"

I was not going in this direction... *sigh* Guess I'll just have to roll with it.

X was dismayed. This hadn't been part of the plan.

Y slapped X's avatar with a whip of wind and he flinched backwards.

"Get out of my way!" she yelled at Nameless, surging him with angry winds.

[Condensation she/her]

I decided that Y wasn't going to help her and wouldn't have escaped with her anyway, so cut her losses and ran off. "If you want your friend back, get me Y's powers. You can meet me in the Hundred-Acre Wood. When you have her powers, I will meet you there with your friend!" I disappeared into the forest.

"No, don't! Melody!" Song yelled, then sank to her knees.

Flame on!
