Swimmingly he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 There's a deleted scene in there at the end. It has Hoid. Moreover, it costs only $5. Now, go buy it, people. 1
Moogle Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Ooh! I don't suppose there's any way to get this deleted scene when you've already bought it on Kindle? 1
Shardlet he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 That would be nice. Peter?...Peter. Can we diligent but lacking souls get access to that deleted scene now that it appears to have been released? 1
Swimmingly he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 It's nothing really special. It's just Hoid showing up and doing some things, you know how he is 1
Shardlet he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) It's nothing really special. It's just Hoid showing up and doing some things, you know how he is If it is nothing special, then why did you post your denial TWICE! I think I speak for the entire population here in saying, "We demand to know the things which Hoid does." Edited February 6, 2014 by Shardlet 3
Swimmingly he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 OK, ok. Basically, it's Shai's first chapter rewritten with Hoid (disguised as a strangely dignified Imperial Fool) talking to her while she's in her cell. He reveals that he betrayed her, trounces her in a verbal sparring match while still acting respectful of her, then insinuates that he engineered a chance at redemption and escape for her. He then departs as a guard shows up and drags her off to her interview. Basically, Hoid is Hoid. 5
WeiryWriter he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Ah, the original prologue! I've been wanting to read that... Hey Peter, will this be added to the ebook you guys send out if people buy the physical copy and send you a picture of it with them?
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) The iBookstore version should now have it as well. If you have it on iBooks try deleting your file and redownloading it. I'll get it to the other stores soon (and the version that's sent via email), but right now I am working on Firefight and that takes priority. Edited February 6, 2014 by PeterAhlstrom 6

Pechvarry Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 There is even a special note at the very end that says "some small details are contradicted by the published version, but Brandon thinks the rest of the conversation is canon." So there's that.
Oudeis he/him Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Any chance the Deleted Scene will end up on BrandonSanderson.com in the Deleted Scenes section? 4
Scriptorian he/him Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 This finally got me to buy the ebook. However it also reminded me why Brandon shouldn't write novellas. It took me under 2 hours to finish. The deleted scene is creepy... Go Hoid! 1
Pechvarry Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I don't feel it added much. Just Shai realizing he's beyond human. And perhaps Hoid foretelling the future. Unless I missed something. Edited February 7, 2014 by Pechvarry
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Any chance the Deleted Scene will end up on BrandonSanderson.com in the Deleted Scenes section? Mmmm, we'll have to discuss this, but it won't be anytime soon, I think. 3
Oudeis he/him Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Ah. Short of deleting it and reinstalling it, is there a way to check when the Nook version is updated?
king of nowhere Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Is there a chance to get it if you have a physical copy of the book? Because, while I normally don't mind expences when I buy quality stuff (and anything written by brandon definitely qualifies) paying 5 dollars for a single chapter of cut content from a book I already have seems a bit exaggerated.
Kurkistan he/him Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Brandon & Co. give away the eBook free to people who have the physical copy, and as Peter said they'll be updating that version shortly. Note: If you buy or already bought the Tachyon Publications trade paperback and want a free copy of the ebook, email your paperback receipt or a picture of yourself holding the book to [email protected]. We’ll get the ebook to you within a couple of days.
Delightful Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Does that also work for the combined Emperors Soul/Legion physical book?
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 It doesn't, because we don't have ebook rights in Gollancz territories. But I'll ask Gollancz if they want to put it in their Emperor's Soul ebook. 4
Sabrina Stormshard she/her Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 can someone post a link to the shop, i want to make sure im buying the right version
GreyPilgrim he/him Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Someone please put a detailed summary on the Coppermind! 2
Iredomi Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Do we know if this has been added to the Gollancz version yet?
