Datan Nomlibash Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) I got a fancy green pumpkin and carved a ghost face on it. (would post a picture but my mobile camera is messed up) Cooked the seeds that were also green and then took turnes playing dark souls with my brother before going to bed early for work. What did you do? Edit: Also played the google browser game. Edited November 1, 2016 by Datan Nomlibash
Spoolofwhool Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 (edited) Went to lectures and demonstrated to a Cosmere-aware friend that I was dressed as Nightblood. Edited November 1, 2016 by Spoolofwhool 1

I must see this Nightblood costume. Or at least tell us how you made yourself look like a big black sword. I went to my classes today as the Tenth Doctor: navy-blue pinstripe pants and suit jacket, collared button-up shirt, red necktie, red Converse, and 3D glasses over top of my prescription eyeglasses since I can't see worth crem without them. I had my sonic screwdriver in my pocket (It lights up and makes the noise!), as well as a little wallet thing I sewed out of brown felt to hold my psychic paper. People at my university are pretty enthusiastic about dressing up for Halloween, so I brought my good camera along too and took pictures of other people's costumes when I could. Costumes I saw today: Giselle from the movie Enchanted, 3 different Belles from Beauty and the Beast (2 in the blue dress and 1 in the elaborate gold ballgown), lots of Hogwarts students, Iron Fist, Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service, Indiana Jones, Carl and Russell from Up, Ana from Frozen, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from Tangled, Captain America, 2 Reys (Star Wars Episode VII), several generic Jedi, Mario, one of these guys from "Attack on Titan," San from Princess Mononoke, Jasmine from Aladdin, the Swedish Chef from The Muppets, and Meg from Hercules. After class I came home to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters, but we only got like 3 or 4 groups. That was disappointing. But on the bright side, now I have a bunch of candy left over. Also, I changed my display name and profile pic to be appropriately spookier. Edited November 1, 2016 by Nightbird

Oh, it was easy. I went up to him, took a deep breath, and said in the most joyful tone possible... "Hello. Would you like to destroy some evil today?" Other than that, I wasn't dressed up. I didn't see many people dressed up at my university. Best one was a friend dressed up as Peter Pan, including a bag of "pixie dust". 1

Zathoth Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Stayed up all night for a stream by my favorite podcast, was fun. Otherwise I didnt do anything, Halloween is only almost a thing here and if you live in the outskirts of nowhere no one cares about it.
KnightRadiant she/her Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I'm rereading WoR and couldn't bring myself to read the particularly painful scene from right after the duel. But I did yesterday. That's... about as bad a Halloween I can get. Ah. I also worked on homework.
tobar14 he/him Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I threw a big party for all my frands, got a quarter barrel of spotted cow, had a costume contest, rejected people's requests to borrow my signed first edition Cosmere novels, made efficient use of pumpkins, and then proceeded to be very hungover the next day. 5
Kaymyth she/her Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 The Halloween party we usually attend didn't happen this year, due to one of the hosts prepping for major surgery. So we didn't party. But that's OK. Last night, we stayed home and answered the door for trick-or-treaters. (The kids love my skeleton-squished-under-the-steps thing, plus all of my dead fairies everywhere.) We gave out a ton of candy and a few toys. See, we participated in the Teal Pumpkin Project this year, so whenever we had kids come to the door I'd ask if anyone had any food allergies. There were a couple of kids with peanut allergies whose faces lit up when they realized they were going to get at least a few treats that they could KEEP. Win! 3

Did you have a seperate bowl of loot or was it more like prepared packages?
Sunbird she/her Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 @Kaymyth I always buy some chocolate and some non-chocolate candy for the trick or treaters because I'm thinking of peanut allergies as well.

I kind of like the notion of giving the allergy kids a little bit more to make up for how much candy they have to give up at the end of the night. 4 hours ago, Nightbird said: @Kaymyth I always buy some chocolate and some non-chocolate candy for the trick or treaters because I'm thinking of peanut allergies as well. We don't generally get the non-chocolate candy 'cause most of it's terrible and we'll never eat the leftovers. Plus there are more allergies out there than just peanuts, and I want to be prepared to accommodate the most oddball allergy types that could possibly surface. We had bubbles, little helicopter toys, glowsticks, some bracelets, and a few other bits and bobs. Edited November 2, 2016 by Kaymyth 2
