asterion137 he/him Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I was reading through The Way of Kings again and apparently Adolin's Shardplate is "inherited from his mother's side of the family". Can we assume it is the same set of plate mentioned in the Oathbringer excerpt here?
Guest Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yes. It is assumed to be the same Shardplate which means that yes, Adolins's Shardplate was initially stolen from someone. For my part, I think the extract implies Gavilar intended this Shard plate to be given to him, to dispose as he sees fit. I think it wasn't planned it would go to unborn Adolin. My understanding is the Shardplate had not been used in between the Iriali's arrival to the Kholins camp and Adolin's 16th birthday. It can't have been the "plan".
Killik he/him Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I think that is a good assumption. In the clip Ialai describes the emissary's sister as "a touch vapid". Pretty sure that is the word used. This goes along with how Navani describes her later when she and Dalinar are courting in WoR. This, along with Dalinar agreeing to marry her, seems to indicate union took place and the plate would then likely come as a dowry. It would then make sense this plate would go to Adolin as Dalinar already had his.
