Basically just a place to come up with modern day products, gadgets and such that might be handy for modern-day Mistings/Mistborn. Here's the one that inspired me to start this thread: Soda cans that have the inside lined with the Allomatic metal(s) of choice, and once you pop the top, the lining starts to dissolve into the soda. So not only do you get a refreshing, sugary beverage to enjoy, but you also get a strength boost, or added senses, or what-have-you.

Whatever the Scadrian FDA ends up being would have a conniption.  Poisonous to non-Pewterarms, if the alloy is affected by the dissolution that means its poisonous to Pewterarms as well.  That's all Mistings and non-Metalborn.  As for Mistborn, they wouldn't have that problem, if only because they could burn the faulty pewter alloy - but that means there is a probability of the refreshing, sugary power boost not killing them when they attempt to use it to get out of a scrape.  The base metals wouldn't have that problem, but a lot of them probably wouldn't dissolve in carbonated sugar water - cadmium, for instance, probably wouldn't.

That's that product torn to shreds.  Feel free to do the same to my product: Steelpush or Ironpull-powered door locks that change lock shape or key code depending on whether some lever was pulled by Allomancy, and in what direction.

I like this idea. I've often wondered how Allomancy would fit into today's intense commercialization and everything.

I think that you might be able to use an Allomancer - specifically one that has a physical effect - to create energy. Depending on the cost of the metal and the cost of other fuels, it might be cheaper. I'm thinking that Coinshots, Lurchers, and Pewterarms would have the most obvious applications, but perhaps you could find a way to use a Slider or something. Maybe someday people could figure out how to transfer emotion brainwaves into electric signals, though that's just kind of a half-baked idea.

Sort of going along with that... What happens to burnt metal? There's probably something about that on the Shard I'm not aware of, but I'm too lazy to look it up. If the conservation of matter and energy theory holds true on Scadrial, then that could mean burnt metal shows up somewhere else on the planet. What if people figured out how to harness it and have metal production facilities where all burnt metal grows in a tube or something, pure and ready to use? Of course, that doesn't really make sense for alloys. There are holes in that for sure, but it could work. Probably. It's a cool idea, anyway.

I don't see why a lock using Allomancy couldn't work, but changing shape? I think your idea has credence but way too many variables. How is a non-Allomancer supposed to know which key code or key to use? What would prevent any old Allomancer from going and changing it, so that the people who do need the door can't use it? If there's a pattern to pushes and pulls, that's essentially the exact same as a key code, except only Coinshots and Lurchers can use it and it's more invisible. I think that this product would find a very limited audience, and wouldn't be worth the time to design and produce.

As brightness Enna said, this is too general to be an actual product rather than a strategy you use with products specifically for Lurchers and Coinshots.

Note, though, that Wax has custom guns which use exactly this kind of technology.  It's customized just for him, by Ranette, and isn't particularly common.

There are a few threads about creating energy using Investiture, and metalborn in particular. Using two iron ferrings on some kind of see-saw/elevator-like thing for example can fuel a generator.

I'm not sure if we know what happens to burnt metal... I may have read somewhere that it just evaporates, not conserving energy, but that Scadrial has enough metal that it's not really a problem. I think some people have theorized that there is a fourth metallic power that creates metal, but I'm not sure I believe that myself.
