Shouldn't that be "wax poetic" ? Prosaic is like, normal, every day hum drum, and the phrase seems more poetic or metaphorical than prosaic.

It's pedantry. She's not actually "technically" being poetic, and prosaic comes from the word prose, and being of prose is another meaning rather than mundane. She's taking a phrase and being rather flippant about it.

I actually really like how pedantic and borderline facetious it is.
