Shouldn't that be "wax poetic" ? Prosaic is like, normal, every day hum drum, and the phrase seems more poetic or metaphorical than prosaic. 1

She's not actually "technically" being poetic, and prosaic comes from the word prose, and being of prose is another meaning rather than mundane.
