Pestis the Spider she/her Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Ah... Donald Trump. Possibly the most controversial person today. So, let's make fun of him! NOTE: No strong language or gore, although it is funnier if you've seen what it's satiring first. EDIT: Actually, if you want to avoid strong language, stay away from the Comments section. A massive flame war has started up. Well. I'm not from US, so the only thing I know about this guy is that he is a politician that says stuff that apparently no one likes, but I think the video was really funny.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 My sister told Dolores she wouldn't read the Harry Potter books while she lives at home. And she's kept to that promise. Which is why I've been reading them to her. And yes. She is enjoying them very much. She inadvertently gave me a few fanfic ideas. "Wait—Gringotts is the second safest place next to Hogwarts? Why didn't Dumbledore just have Harry live at Gringotts?" (I didn't share the spoiler as to why this wouldn't work, but I find the notion strangely appealing.) "What if someone told the Dursleys that there was something amazingly valuable in Vault 713? " "You know who Hagrid reminds me of? Soos from Gravity Falls! Hagrid should go on a little trip to Oregon." 2

Kobold King he/him Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Harry couldn't live at Gringotts because it's a bank. Not a hotel. I mean, they apparently have the facilities to sustain a live dragon, and a big one at that. I'm sure they could keep a boy alive, and a few stiff and untalkative goblin supervisors would probably give the kid less emotional turmoil over the first eleven years of his life than the Dursleys. Exactly. They could furnish an unused office and give him some money to eat at one of the restaurants down Diagon Alley. He could shower over at the Green Dragon and become a whiz at wizard finance by the age of twelve. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Exactly. They could furnish an unused office and give him some money to eat at one of the restaurants down Diagon Alley. He could shower over at the Green Dragon and become a whiz at wizard finance by the age of twelve. Or they just raise him in total isolation from his own kind, releasing him when he's eleven for a wizarding remake of Elf. We win either way. 1
Kaymyth she/her Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Is anyone else at least somewhat fascinated with the idea that Trump could be the US' next president? I know I certainly am. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fond of the idea, I would equate the fascination with people slowing down while driving to look at a bad car accident... But the fascination is there none the less. No. I find the idea of him winning the election to be terrifying. The best case scenario is that he gets bored a few months in and comes up with an excuse to resign in a fit of pique. Well. I'm not from US, so the only thing I know about this guy is that he is a politician that says stuff that apparently no one likes, but I think the video was really funny. He's not a politician. He's a billionaire (who has filed for corporate bankruptcy four or five times) and a reality TV star. He's all bluster and no substance.

We win either way. "What's an owl letter? I want one!" "DUMBLEDORE! I KNOW HIM!" *to Lucius Malfoy* "You smell like beef and cheese. You sit on a throne of lies." She's already determined both her and my wand compositions, by the way. 3

Don't get me wrong, I find the idea of him being elected terrifying too. But, I also find horrific car accidents terrifying, it doesn't stop me for wanting to get a look... On that note I find the idea of Hillary getting elected terrifying as well, but for completely different reasons (specifically, the precedent of if you are rich and connected enough you can commit well documented treason and not only not go to jail, but also be president). Go Bernie, I suppose. Edited February 26, 2016 by Iron Eyes
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Also, if Vin were to team up with anyone from the Potterverse, anyone at all, it would be Dudley Dursley. He's so enormous that he'd make the perfect Allomantic anchor. 4

Go Bernie, I suppose. I'm definitely feeling the Bern. Lucky me, I'm in a caucus state, so no secret ballot primary. I'm sure I'll catch flak from someone for being a "bad feminist" for not supporting Hillary. I'll be happy to show them exactly how many storms I give about their opinion. (Hint: it's zero.) Orlion Blight he/him Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I'm definitely feeling the Bern. You should see a doctor about that I am pretty much in the camp of "Any one who is not Republican, but definitely not Cruz." I just wish Bernie did not insist that the two words associated with his campaign were "Socialist" and "Revolution" in that order. That's going to be a pain to explain to the undecided if he gets the Democratic nomination
The Invested Beard Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 No one looks good to me. And that is sad.
Zathoth Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Ya know, there was a South Park episode about exactly that...

Giggle as hundreds of square miles of land is destroyed before you can say "Marge is next." 4

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Totally random ship. Amaram+Marge So they can get told off by Dalinar and then blown up by Harry? I like. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Pretty much. My mantra for this entire thing has been "Where's Romney Dalinar Kholin when you need him?" Fixed that for you. 6
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Fixed that for you. Dalinar has my vote. Doesn't matter what he's running for. 2
Kobold King he/him Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Dalinar has my vote. Doesn't matter what he's running for. President of the local knitting club? 3
Mistrunner Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Fixed that for you.I've never wanted to stick a "support ________ candidate" sign into my lawn until now.I think we can all agree that Dalinar would be Best Candidate. 1
DreamEternal Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 What about Elend Venture? He didn't beat his nephew into submission, did he?
