We're determining a date for me to go down for those things, where I'll also look at apartments. After that, there'll be a week before I get the results of the drug test and physical, and from there I'll need to start within two weeks. Good stuff. So as long as you haven't done drugs recently and are reasonably healthy you have nothing to worry about. Any worry being placed on you by your parents is very unfair of them as it has no basis in reality. The job is yours, this is just working out logistics. Be at peace, all will be well.

If you are looking for ways to "not be clingy" your follow up email should mention just that: that it is a follow up. It magically sounds less invasive to me that way Logistics do take a while, in the meantime scum will try to sabotage your efforts.

Important things do sometimes get pushed back because other things come up. Especially when you're a librarian having to deal with idiots who come in every day asking for a specific book and the only thing they can remember about it is that it was blue.

Maybe I should start my own worldbuilding thread, if only to force me to fill some holes in my worldbuilding...
