TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I usually don't consider extra-literary sources canon unless I like the ideas they present better than my own headcanons. (Brandon Sanderson being the only major exception.) I've been using it to flesh out her world a little more for the purposes of my own story, but so far I've found even that use lacking. Seriously. The Coppermind is edited by fans and it's ten times meatier than Pottermore is. (That's not a swipe at everyone who edits the Coppermind; quite the opposite, actually. The Coppermind isn't just impressive for a fan collab; it's impressive period.) The article on wizard transportation contained nothing I hadn't gleaned from the books already, and I'm still irritated that the article on werewolves eschewed the chance at conveying useful information in favor of making puns. So there, Rowling. You're a fantastic writer and I adore the world you've created, but I reject your headcanon and substitute my own. If you ever want to argue with me, I'm willing to share my reasoning, but since I'm just a fanfic writer and you have more money than the Queen of England, I doubt this affects your life. Like, at all. On another note, are there any American critters that you suspect of being left out of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that could provide good wand cores? I've already got Sasquatch (who is NOT a yeti, Scamander, seriously ). 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Thunderbird or piasa feathers? Piasa bird, pictured for reference. Ahh! I read about the piasa* bird just the other day! Thunderbird, I'll have to do more research on. Great minds think alike, I suppose. *My phone autocorrected this to "pizza." Now I'm wondering if I can work the legendary pizza bird in somehow. 2
Zathoth Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I once I drew a picture of a giraffe in a suit fighting a giant waffle bird with a fork, you can definitely have pizza birds. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I once I drew a picture of a giraffe in a suit fighting a giant waffle bird with a fork, you can definitely have pizza birds. The pizza bird soars above the land of this great nation, seeking only those who are truly hungry. Likewise, the waffle bird seeks those who truly desire waffles. Each have spawned a chain of worshippers, who create homages to their deities in pizza huts and waffle houses, respectively. Legend has it that one witch or wizard, one who is hungry beyond compare, shall summon both birds at once. They shall unite, and a new day will be upon us: the day of the PIZZA WAFFLE! 4
Orlion Blight he/him Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I somehow ended up in Gothenburg again, gothenburg means more books Even if I hopefully get Bands tomorrow. I got Dead Beat, The Wise Mans Fear and Perdido Street Station (All on your recommendation Orlion, if I don't like it I'll blame you. Jokes aside it seems like something Im going to enjoy.) Honestly, I accept full responsibility. And I'll be very surprised if you do not like it. 1

That is beautiful. You must write it. There are no bad ideas, only bad contexts. Honestly, I accept full responsibility. And I'll be very surprised if you do not like it. It seems like my cup of tea. A cup of very strange tea, and I like strange.

Now you have me pondering the viability of cooking pizza dough in a Belgian waffle iron. 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Now you have me pondering the viability of cooking pizza dough in a Belgian waffle iron. It could be possible. You could also use a less-sweet version of waffle batter and make that your crust. Now I'm hungry. 1
Young Bard he/him Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 Ich bin kaput! Sorry. I am broken Was ist los? (See? I can do this speaking in other languages too. If it's German, I don't even have to look it up on Google Translate! Well, sometimes, at least...)

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 And lo, I have devised a way that the glorious pizza bird can become part of the world.

Kestrel she/her Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) Someone dropped off a beta fish in the animation classroom today. Don't know who it was, but the fish came in the container they sell them in at the store with food and a note that read "her name is Kyoko. She gets two pellets a day. Take care of her." So I guess we have a pet now. Edited January 28, 2016 by LarkoftheRiver
Delightful Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Someone once came into my school and stapled a fish to a whiteboard. I'm not sure but I really hope it was dead first.
