Release question

Has there been any word as to whether the e-book version will release simultaneously with the hardcover? I know that they couldn't do it for the WoT books because of Harriet's wishes, but I'm wondering what will happen with this.

 

Personally, I tend to prefer to read on my Kindle, but I still collect hardcovers as well. However, I would prefer to pick up the hardcover if/when he comes for a signing to support whichever bookstore hosts him.

 

Thanks for any feedback (even if it just telling me that I missed the topic that would have answered this).

Peter and Brandon have confirmed this multiple times.   It will be same day.  It seems if you look at Peter's Twitter feed specifically he spends half his time responding to WoK fans asking.

WHAT? I didn't know the audiobook would be out as well! Oh man, this book might break my bank. Already ordered the other two formats, but this would let me finish it in like 3 days! oooooohhhhhhhh man.

The Way of Kings audio-book passed the 40 hour mark, and the Words of Radiance is even longer. Think you can cram 40+ hours into three days?

EASILY. I do it all the time. My job is database management. I can crank out numbers and dimensionality nearly mindlessly and still be productive. That is in the bag.

Audible really drags their feet on putting up preorders, even on big releases.   I think I'll keep a credit floating around to snatch it up ASAP just in case.

Peter, do you know if there is going to be a "buy the hard cover, get the ebook free/cheap" promotion for WoR? I definitely want the hardcover for the art and for signings, but people tend to get mad when you bring luggage on the bus ;-)

We can only do that for Legion and the Emperor's Soul, because we retain the ebook rights to those. For Words of Radiance, I haven't heard from Tor yet whether they plan to do the Amazon MatchBook thing. Their current MatchBook experiments with a few of Brandon's books are only experiments and are not indicative of future practice.
