Life Surge (either Abiogenesis or Resurrection)

Posted

Okay for reference here is the original quote about God Surges:

Khyrindor

Are there Surges that could be considered as God Surges, like the God metals on Scadrial?

Brandon Sanderson (Paraphrased)

Yes.

Khyrindor

Progression and Adhesion, perhaps?

Brandon Sanderson (Paraphrased)

No, but they could be considered as such.

But here is a follow up asked a few days later:

Question

The "God Surges" you mentioned recently, are they a part of the Way of Kings frontsheet?

Brandon Sanderson

All I said regarding this was to tell a fan that it was possible to make an analogy between the god metals on Scadrial and certain powers on Roshar. However, these are not a codified part of the magic system.

A theory that just popped into my head.

What if access to the god surges are only granted by the Honorblades :o. At the start of the WOK Kalak says that they are treasures beyond even Shardblades but so far the only thing that they seem to do is use even more stormlight which would actually make them less useful so there must be another reason why they are considered stronger maybe the grant access to the god surges. I think it's possible however then you have the problem of why wasn't Szeth able to use them it could be that he was using the blade wrong or that he didn't know about the surges or maybe only the heralds can access these particular abilities.

They also let you use surges without being chosen by a spren and upholding an order's oaths. Szeth certainly wasn't doing much protecting or leading.

Sorry, I worded that wrong I meant that there is really no difference in the power granted by the Honorblades and the power granted by a bonded spreen. While the lack of checks is useful it still doesn't really explain why Honorblades are considered greater, especially since whoever bonds one ends up using dangerous levels of stormlight.

The KR came about because the Spren found a way to copy what the Honorblades do.

Also, SZETH was using dangerous amounts of Stormlight, but I suspect the Heralds would be a different situation.

Instead of honorblades what about dawnshards?

My thoughts exactly.

However, it's useless to read too much into this right now.  Maybe Nalan will spill the beans in Book 3.

Well we would also have to assume the ability to use these surges would be related to the physical bodies of honor and cultivation right? Because that's how lerasium and atium work
