Kestrel she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Ninja Twi, the most fear-inducing of Twis right after Hunger games Twi. Anyway, I supposse you have done something good.I personally think that Twi was doing a good job.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Ninja Twi, the most fear-inducing of Twis right after Hunger games Twi. Anyway, I supposse you have done something good. That, or I just made her and her dad hurry to the checkout because of the random person leaping out of the stacks and yelling "BUY RECKONERS!!!!" (I didn't shout; I just told her she'd probably like it, but you get the idea.) 2
Kobold King he/him Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I just recommended Reckoners to a random girl in the bookstore. I feel so...powerful. And a little insane. It is a little crazy. But also awesome. 3
Left he/him Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 You know when you're trying to make a quick account on a website, and it demands you fill in tremendous amounts of personal info before it lets you join? And when you're tempted to fill in all the templates with blatant lies about yourself just so they won't have your real zip code and contact info? Queen Chrysalis knows that feel. I have a fake full name, spam email, birthdate, and half formed personality for internet accounts that I'm not sure I'll use. Aside from the fact that the fake identity has no proper documentation and is twenty years older than me, I could totally slip into it if I needed to go into hiding 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 It is a little crazy. But also awesome. She was about to buy Allegiant! I was staging an intervention! Has Obliteration met crazy!Twi yet? 2
Guest Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 @LeftInch Me too. I use it for blogging, mostly, because I'm not especially proud of my blog yet. Email address, half-real biography, the works. It's pretty close to an analogue of me, just with a different name, a few more years, and some personal details of me changed. So if you guys are ever out reading political blogs, and you think someone sounds like me, it could be...
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I thought of two more pug names. Girl: Lagertha, a character from the show Vikings. Boy: Obliteration, which is self explanatory. 1
Kestrel she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 i don't know what to do i should draw finish requests and commissions

Naming pets after fictional characters can be... hit-or-miss. Just ask me, the manager of both of a cuddly, utterly unaggressive tomcat named Blackthorn and a stand-offish queen named Jasnah. 2
Kestrel she/her Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I tried to name our dog Spook. Because he acts exactly like Spook. Family said no. Dog's name is Buck. I'm defeat 3

So if you guys are ever out reading political blogs, and you think someone sounds like me, it could be... I... might actually do this. Huh. Sounds like a good idea... Anyways, on the topic of naming things after fictional characters and items... let's see...I've got a USB drive (now misplaced, sadly) named Blackthorn and a blanket named Pattertwig. The computer I use for writing is named Glamdring, and the family computer was (is? I can't remember) named Dumbledore. My iPod is named Legolas. Our old van was named the Millennium Falcon. Mom's phone is Elrond, iPod is Arwen. Her laptop's Thranduil. ...we're a weird family. 2
ThirdGen Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I tried to name our dog Spook. Because he acts exactly like Spook. Family said no. Dog's name is Buck. I'm defeat I could see that name being problematic. 1
Orlion Blight he/him Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I tried to name our dog Spook. Because he acts exactly like Spook. Family said no. Dog's name is Buck. I'm defeat I could see that name being problematic. Yeah, we actually ran into that problem with our cat. We found/rescued him around Halloween so we named him Spook. Once the father found out and realized the problematic nature of that name, he added a "y" to the name: Spooky. The intent was preserved, and the potentially offensive problem averted!
Kestrel she/her Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Hm. Yeah. I also was kicking around naming him Kelsier but he only looks like a dog version of Kell, not really acts like one. Actually how would Kell act as a dog?
Guest Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Honestly, Chewbacca is the best name for a dog. But you call him Chewie. And Gandalf is the best name for a cat.
skaa he/him Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) This is my 1000th post. (Whew! So now there's no pressure for me to finish that big post I had been working on as my "1000th post". Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to finish it anytime soon.) Edited July 27, 2015 by skaa 2
Kobold King he/him Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 So, remember TwiLyght's Pug Fund? Vague plans for raising cash to buy TwiLyght a pug puppy when she eventually moves out? Today I approached my mom with knowledge of this fund, hesitantly trying to find out whether the family's bank account could spare anything. The conversation went better than I expected. ME: Hey, uh, I was just wondering whether we'd be able to spare thirty to fifty dollars or so sometime soon... MOTHER: Yes, of course. ME: ...Whoah. That's it? Just "of course"? MOTHER: Yep. We've got a lot of money to spare right now. Why do you need thirty to fifty dollars? When I explained the situation, she got wholeheartedly behind it. So in all likelihood I will be able to donate to this Fund, if and when it opens. 4

I know that's dumb, but it wouldn't be an irrational fear if it were, well, rational. Even though it's not up and running yet, I'm still stunned by the generosity everyone here has expressed. And I'd also like to add that once it is up and running, I'd consider an awesome donation to be along the lines of, say, $10 or $15. 2

I'll shoot for at least fifty. I don't ask for money often--ever, actually--so I'll milk this as much as I can. 2
Kestrel she/her Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Tfw you're a quartermaster so youre setting up stands and chairs in certain rooms and you gotta do H224 and you spend twenty minutes looking for it and it doesn't exist It was supposed to be H124 1

I thought it was just another word for scary, and a slang word for secret agents/CIA (there's a shoe titled it after all...)

I thought it was just another word for scary, and a slang word for secret agents/CIA (there's a shoe titled it after all...) There's a reason they retitled "Spooks" "MI5" for broadcast over here. It's a racial slur. As always, I have a related movie recommendation: The Human Stain, starring Anthony Hopkins. 1
