DanTheSeamonster he/him Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 This needs to be a poster. And it needs to be on my wall. Now, please. Also... those space onions are pretty strong. Don't feel bad for... for... a few tears shed here and there. *bawls eyes out* 3
Mistrunner Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 ...am I the only one here who likes Ten? *dodges rotten fruit* 5
Kobold King he/him Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 ...am I the only one here who likes Ten? *dodges rotten fruit* Not at all! I adore Nine and Ten. Eleven is simply my favorite, and Twelve is the only revived series Doctor I don't really care for. 3
+Slowswift Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Ten's great, I'm just not overly fond of half his episodes... *dodges rotten fruit* Despite his being a jerk, I adore Twelve and couldn't tell you why. Either way, his was the best TARDIS that I've seen. It's orange and decorated with bookcases, guys. 3
Kobold King he/him Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Ten's great, I'm just not overly fond of half his episodes... *dodges rotten fruit* Eleven, for me, was on average the best Doctor. Ten, though, was the most variable in story quality. He was the Doctor in some of my least favorite episodes of the entire series, but he also took center stage in some of the episodes I adore the very most. I judge most Eleventh Doctor stories as "Very Good," but Ten's episodes cover every level between "Epic Fail" and "SWEET OMEGA TEN OUT TEN WOULD WATCH AGAIN!!" 4
+Slowswift Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Remind me to tell y'all about Barter Books in England sometime...
Mistrunner Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I need a Doctor Who support group. I'll be talking with friends and jokingly say "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" and suddenly get depressed. I have worked "Allons-y!" and "Bananas are good!" and even "Always bring a banana to a party" into at least five conversations and then I'm really sad when people don't get the reference. 3

Count me in. 1
DanTheSeamonster he/him Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 ...am I the only one here who likes Ten? *dodges rotten fruit* I'm of the same opinion as Kobold on this. Well. Except for Nine. I don't really like Nine. Sorry Lark. I only re watch his episodes because of Captain Jack. OH HEY! Can we please talk about Jack for a second? 1

We can talk about Jack now. 3
Redbird he/him Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Once more, NINE NINE NINE NINE. This is kinda related, because the two episodes that Jack first appears in, The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances are my favorites. And that episodes has bananas!
+Slowswift Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Lark, that look pretty awesome. Where is it? Edited June 8, 2015 by Slowswift
Kestrel she/her Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 We're in the Smokey Mountains. We own a rental cabin so we come up often to check on the place.

That's a super nice picture. Edited June 8, 2015 by KamorianKandra 1
DanTheSeamonster he/him Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Eep. You actually met Captain Jack Harkness? As in the Captain Jack Harkness!?
KamorianKandra he/him Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Eep. You actually met Captain Jack Harkness? As in the Captain Jack Harkness!? Sorry. That was misleading. Not the Captain Jack Harkness. Just one of many Captain Jack Harknesses. Just kidding. Yeah, it was him. Edited June 8, 2015 by KamorianKandra
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The one Doctor I want to see more of is Eight. I haven't found the movie everyone tells me to avoid, and I know McGann starred in some well-recieved radio dramas, but I've been feeling poor and haven't wanted to pay for them. But his performance in "Night of the Doctor" left me wanting more. Seriously, that is one of the most compelling five-minute shorts I've ever watched, and I would gladly watch a hundred episodes with him.

Seriously, that is one of the most compelling five-minute shorts I've ever watched, and I would gladly watch a hundred episodes with him. The movie is terrible. Not because of McGann; he's brilliant. It's everything else that's bad. The writing, the backstory, the details that Hollywood got hilariously, ridiculously wrong. This movie is 20 years old, why am I putting in spoiler tags? They put the Eye of Harmony inside the TARDIS. Yes, let's put the captive black hole that powers the entirety of Gallifrey's time travel on board one single, malfunction-prone, out-of-date TARDIS. And don't even get me started about the claim of the Doctor being half-human. Nope. Nope, nope, nope. So many fans have tried to write up crazy theories about how that would work, or how it only applies to THAT Doctor (somehow). I'll just say that he hit his head a bit too hard mid-regeneration and got confused about why he likes Earth so much.

Every time I think Hollywood has finally learned how to respect the source material and write a decent screenplay….I learn about something like this. And I've heard its awful from many different sources, but every time I hear it again, I learn something new about how badly Hollywood can screw up a great concept. I've made up my mind to avoid the movie, but I still want to see more of McGann. I haven't seen much, but I can definitely say I want to see more.

Admittedly, I have a near-encyclopedic knowledge of Doctor Who, thanks to the unparalleled obsession capabilities of once being a teenager. I yelled at the screen when NuWho got his age wrong. (Yes, they pass it off now as, "Oh, the Doctor just has lost track of how old he really is," but I strongly suspect a whopping case of Didn't Do The Research.) So...when it comes to Doctor Who, I'm sort of the equivalent of a scientist watching any movie that tries to use science ever. Especially when it comes to all of the tidbits of Gallifreyan history that drifted across the screen.* I'm probably not the best baseline when it comes to judging the movie. *This does not include New Adventures material, or what came from the radio plays. I know the basics of how they spun that, but never had the access to keep my collection of those novels running. Back then, American bookstores weren't exactly known for keeping a good stock of Who stuff.

I freely admit to being one of the fans sucked in by NuWho, with very little knowledge of Classic Doctors. I've watched a few episodes with Two and Four, and I've read about the basic personalities of the other Doctors, and all the tropes they exhibited and/or pioneered, but I didn't even know Who existed until about three years ago, at which point I wondered why it had taken me that long to discover it. 3
