So, I go to a small school. Like I am talking small school. My high school probably only has a couple hundred people.
My senior class has 35 people.

Yeah, and it awesome.

Anyways… I had the thought, what if I made a school forum? There could be different parts for grades, academic stuff, random stuff…(kinda like this one). Anyways, this seems super cool and fun to me, but the reality is that I don’t t know how.

so I want to ask you guys if you know of any good places to make a forum website (I don’t like the groups on Wix) that are free.

thank you!

I would start your research with the Invision Community website and forums; as that is the base software on which these forums are built
- link at the bottom of every page ("Powered by Invision Community")

They may even have scholastic deals and such, as Invision is a base suite used by other business and educational customers, not just entertainment/fan communities.

Hope that helps.

Another option, if you want something that's likely a lot easier to set up, would be to do a school discord server or something of that nature. (We did that with my school, only about 200 people). It's just a bit easier for casual chatting than something like a forum, and requires less front end setup. (Though some parents don't let their kids have discord, so that's a drawback)

I'm actually not sure what the easiest way to do this would be anymore. Back in the olden days when I was in high school, Invisionfree existed where you could make free forums, and those were great, but those are all gone. IPS proper is way too expensive for this purpose. I'd have never been able to afford it when I was in 13-18. Whereas I did admin forums on Invisionfree at those ages! Fun times.

Anyway, I am curious, so if you figure something out reasonable, let me know. Hosting stuff is kind of hard, so no wonder things tend to go to Reddit, Facebook, or Discord...
