Please no blasphemy - "I am who I am" is the covenant name of God (Yaweh/Jehovah - and no I'm not a Jehovah's witness, I'm a free reformed Christian)

Spoiler

That’s fair. My intent was to use it as a general statement of eternity of self. Not specifically the “I Am” used by God, which actually has a connection to the Tetragrammaton I did not know about before, how neat.

@Argenti, you found a K-Type star. Not exactly something that can become a Supergiant.

It has a mass of 0.72 Suns and a luminosity of about 0.317 Suns. It's got a main sequence lifespan of roughly 23 billion years before it becomes a red giant and then a white dwarf. Now, the age of the universe is almost 14 billion years (I know it's not the Cosmere, but we don't know how old the Cosmere is), so it doesn't really matter when this star was born because it isn't blowing up anytime soon.

Unless, of course, you change that.

I'm going to worry about planets later, I need to do more research for that. Hopefully tomorrow. I did some cursory research, it seems it will be a challenge finding a planets per star distribution graph.

Arriving in this unformed system, great wings of cyan and magenta stretching into infinity, Alph, along with Virtuosity, frowns. He can do better than this... this orange dwarf. It's far too small. He was hoping for something larger, more... energetic.

So be it. He knows of a large star in a binary system. He was hoping not to invest it, because he was afraid other shards would go there and oppose him. But based on the current track of the 16... He will be fine. Pity the system had to go.

He begins towards what would become Taldain.

Tarsh-Eamon felt the power sweep him up as he ascended to godhood, and it was bliss.

Behave with Honour, the power whispered, as his mind expanded and power like he had never known coursed through his body. He could feel his very substance becoming more and more connected to each of the Three Realms, and his vision broadening until he could see down multiple paths that the future could take. Not all futures were visible, and some were less visible than others. When he looked at the other members of the Sixteen, his sight distorted, and he could only see minimally into the future. The scholarly part of his brain had an answer for that - because the other shards all had such incredible power, as much as he did, their actions weighed heavily on the future, and made it all but impossible to guess what they would do. He could, however, see the Intent of the power they held. The one that worried him most was Grace. He hadn't known her very well before shattering Adonalsium, but he had quickly realised that she was conniving, manipulative and brutal. I will need to keep a close eye on her. And Macarose, ever arrogant and controlling had taken the Shard of Dominion. He would be very dangerous.

I need an ally, he decided.

What about Lendrel? The power asked. He has shown honour in the past - he will make a very good ally.

Agreed. Eamon sent his mind out to Lendrel, who had taken up the Shard of Autonomy. We need a plan, he said. I don't trust Grace or Macarose - there will be conflict before this is all over. Will you join me?

Yes. The power sent back. I fear there may be a storm of chaos in the beginning now that some of the 16 have power. We will need a secure world to create and maintain.

And Anibelmeth Ascended. The pool of power rushed into her, and she gasped as she could feel her mind expanding, flooding with new capabilities. She grasped the power and took it more fully into herself, even as she could feel her body decaying below. And now, to the Spiritual Realm, and still the torrent of power would not cease. Until, eventually, it slowed to a trickle before stopping, the Ascension completed.

Anibelmeth left Yolen. The power did not like that; it wanted to help the dying planet, but it could be ignored. She was in charge. Slowly, carefully, she tested her new capabilities. She could move, create, destroy, and change. She could see far, far away, and still know all of the fine details. But most importantly, Anibelmeth could view permutations of the future.

She looked, and saw the other Shards of Adonalsium, each moving and claiming planets of their own. They would rule them as gods, no doubt. And she hated them for it. Couldn't they see they were immediately becoming that which they had worked so hard to destroy? Which was why Anibelmeth was irked when she came to the conclusion she would have to do the same. Yet her hatred could not last, as she pitied them for that which they would be put through. Their pain, and her own, was inevitable.

And so, Mercy (for she was Mercy in this aspect) searched through the Cosmere for a planet, unclaimed by the others, that would be suitable for life.

Name: Iairandeshi (Ruin)
Planet of Origin: Roshar
Pronouns: She/her
Species: Singer
Age: 16 (when they took ruin)
Personality: She is/was bubbly and enthusiastic, but also had a slight pyromaniac/likes to destroy things stage when she was 13 and kept a bit of that enthusiasm, probably the worst pick for ruin of any of the 16.

@ThatOneWorldhopper
Name: Ikaretekeketeraki'nantaríãī (Pronounced exactly how it's spelled)*shortened name (Valor)
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Age: ××××loooooooooooooong time.
Personality: solemn and wise. Tempered by the horrors…
Species: Dragon
Pronouns: He/Him

@SpartanBrigade
Name: Lendrel Arkhanhal (Autonomy)
Pronouns: He/Him
Homeworld: Yolen
Age: 23Personality: Lighthearted but beneath it all deeply calculating, has a strong moral code. Formerly enslaved, eventually murked Adonalsium with everyone else since he wasn’t a fan of God being chill with such things.
Species: Human

@ChickenBonanza
Name: Mascarose Sant Sommer (Dominion)
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Pronouns: He/Him
Species: Human
Age: Late 20s
Personality: Callous and pragmatic, one whose goals and thoughts ofttimes align solely with his own interests. He is by no means incapable of caring for others, but keeps himself always distant, as if embittered by events of long ago. Those few who happen to enter his confidence are those who continue to benefit from that which benefits him.
An exiled princeling from what would later become a maritime republic. One who enjoyed a youth of wealth and grandeur. Having been ousted before entering fully his adulthood, Mascarose came to desire a return to his original lifestyle and the powers of rulership, something he has come to see as his birthright.

@Ashkaloda
Name: Anibelmeth (Mercy)
Pronouns: she/her
Planet of Origin: First of the Sun
Species: Human
Age: 36
Personality: Serious and commanding, but friendly. Always looks at the bigger picture.

@Denisimo

Name: Sudowoodoo (sorry, @Dilly honor spren(Whimsy)
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: Human
Pronouns: he/him
Age: doesn't know, adult
Personality:  depends on the weather but typically very happy and optimistic

@.....
Name: Encephelous often known as Ence
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Pronouns: He/Him
Species: human
Age: 34
Where you were at the time Shattering: in the cognitive realm looking for other worlds, the Rosharan Subastral.
Personality: serious highly intelligent wants power and knowledge. He plans on starting on institution for gathering knowledge from around the Cosmere.
Powers(because people who aren’t shards probably have them): microkinesis. Manipulating electrons and molecular  bonds. although, I was also thinking that similarly to how Hoid’s Yolish  lightweaving isn’t working the way it’s supposed to in The Way of Kings microkinesis wouldn’t be working at 100% capacity either and might have extra limitations

@Dragonheir
Name: Layke Nesson (certainly did not garble necessity-son to get that last name) (Invention)
Pronouns: he/him, though as a Shard they’ll probably change to neutral
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: human
Age: 32
Personality: smart and iterating ideas, eccentric and dependent on routine, friendly and willing to do what’s right, ambitious and jealous of those who get power with no effort.

Notes: weak microkinetic, using it mainly for his chemistry/apothecary/alchemy work rather than in combat. Knowledgeable about atoms and forces, since he can see them. Physically rather wiry, but with prep time can ruin your day using conventionally prepared explosives. Without preparation, though, he freezes in situations he hasn’t thought about.

@Argenti
Name: Alph (Virtuosity)
Pronouns: He/Him
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: Sho Del
Age: 27 (How long do Sho del live?"
Personality: Depending on who you ask, Alph is.... disturbed. To him, there is beauty in death, in destruction, and he revels in it. As any true artist would tell you, the act of destruction is just as important as the moment of creation. Before the shattering, he was an artist and philosopher, creating both art and essays on the root of beauty. He's dramatic, he's flamboyant, he's over the top.

@Wyver the Great, played by @Argenti
Name: Andarneoas, or Andarna for short. (Endowment)
Pronouns: She/her
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: Dragon
Age: Unknown
Where you were at the time Shattering (are you one of the sixteen or were somewhere else?): One of the 16
Personality: Was/is merciful, kind, but sometimes has a certain view on regular Humans- as if they are just little playthings. Is influenced heavily by her Shard.

@Tinwatcher
Name: Turnip (Reason)
Pronouns: He/him
Planet of Origin: roshar Species: singer
Age: A lot (17 durring the shattering)
Personality: values knowledge and clarity , sees emotion as a nuisance, insincere

@Spark of Hope
Name: Shalta (Preservation)
Pronouns: she/her
Planet of Origin: First of the Sun
Species: human
Age:27
Personality: likes sleeping. Pretty much a human sloth

@SpiritOfWrath
Name: Rella (Ambition)
Pronouns: She/Her
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: Sho Del
Age: 43
Personality: Rella is very very ambitious. Like… kill your superior if you think it’ll get you a promotion ambition. But she isn’t stupid. She’s cunning, and knows when to engage, and when to disengage. She likes to handpick individuals she thinks are suitably ambitious, and just slightly invest them, just slightly help them. So, when the time comes, she can call on them, and they cannot resist.

@al_lan_mandragoran
My character is called Tarsh-Eamon (Honour)
He's a dragon from Yolen, and is one of the original 16.
Pronouns of he/him
Eamon is a dragon, and he is several centuries old. He has seen much fighting in his long life, and has come to hate conflict. However, he still recognizes that sometimes you must fight for what is right. A quirk of Eamon is that he likes to pretend he is not a dragon, going around in human form and pretending to be a mere scholar.

@Through The Living Glass
Name: Alva (Devotion)
Pronouns: She/Her
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: Human
Age: 30
Personality: Very loving, kind person. She just wants to help everybody who needs it, and she never abandons them. She's not stupid though, and she doesn't let people use her. She won't tolerate threats of any kind towards herself or others.

@AltonicKeys, played by @ChickenBonanza
Name: Grace Isilyar (Odium)
Pronouns: She/Her
Planet of Origin: Yolen
Species: Yolish human
Age: Old. Like, 70s or more.
Personality: Think old grandma, but the strict and somewhat malevolent kind. Manipulative, possibly. Conniving, even. Like if your grandma went to war, and came back a general.

Rella dove head-first into the pool that was Ambition. As soon as she made contact, her skin began to glow. In an instant, both her and the pool disappeared. Wiping away his tears, Ikaretekeketeraki'nantaríãī stepped into his own pool, Ascending to Valor. Sudowoodoo did a backflip before landing in his, becoming Whimsy. Alph, with a smile on his face, did the same, except he created a dazzling show with his four arms mid-air. His landing produced an explosion of colour before Ascending.

The rest weren't as eager. Gadris, knowing that this had to be done, touched the pool with the tip of his finger. Mascarose stepped forward, his eyes never leaving Grace until the moment he Ascended. Anibelmeth took a deep breath and stepped forward. Turnip suppressed inferior emotions like fear and touched the pool of Reason with the tip of his finger. Andarneoas, with a stern expression, did the same, taking Endowment. Alva simply took a step and became Devotion. Tarsh-Eamon and Eloh Pool, both in human form, dove into Honour and Cultivation respectively.

Only Iairandeshi, Layke, Shalta and Grace remained. The ground beneath them began to tremble as cracks appeared, separating the four of them. Shalta contemplated what they'd done in killing Adonalsium.

"I have everything figured out," Layke whispered to himself, before taking Invention.

"Go on, you two," Grace urged after Layke had left. Iairandeshi hummed to Anxiety, before attuning Resolve. She nodded to Shalta, then took Ruin. Shalta sighed before taking Preservation.

Grace, the only one remaining, had already come up with a plan. She leaped forward, Ascending to Odium above a crumbling world.

All 16 of them must flee.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grace is going to be even worse than Rayse, I think.

Shards, you must either:

  • Stay behind as Yolen shatters
  • Settle a world
  • Stay somewhere in interstellar or interplanetary space
  • Explore beyond the current star systems

Remember, the Shard's Intent hasn't had too much of an effect yet. However, the power will likely interact with the Vessel.

@.....you can do whatever you like in Shadesmar. This is going to be the first day or so post-shattering, until further notice.

Remember, non-RP text in quote boxes or spoiler tags.

Begin!

Layke ascended to Invention and was glad to find that at least some of it was familiar. The world looked the way it did when he used Microkinesis, but far more detailed. Odd, that becoming a god could feel some familiar. And the foresight he had! Layke had always worried about the future, wanted to prepare for every possibility, and now he could!
He looked at his fellow Shards and felt sick to his nonexistent stomach. He was wrong - that made him feel even worse, that his third thought with supposed omniscience could be so wrong. They were incomprehensibly shifting messes of possibilities, far too many of them catastrophic.
And so, as his first real act as a god, Layke fled. He passed all the worlds he had discussed with the others, and went to a star he had seen in the sky, had chosen specifically because it was uninteresting and presumably distant. He didn’t know anything about it, but that was acceptable - for it would be far, far away from these other Shards and the daunting potential they had.

Quote

Don’t worry, everyone - he’s not staying isolated forever. Actually, people could follow him if they wanted.

It would be funny if you went right next to me while trying to get away. Layke is stubborn enough that even if this plan failed utterly, he’d continue it anyway.
