Chester was a deep sleeper, though. So he didn't really notice.

Ashwan turns and slides but like still going forwards so technically backward under the dudes legs. Stands up stabs the dude in the back then looks for the person. All in like 1 second.

The sword stops just before piercing skin - cause unknown.
