The first guard, sad that he had lost his medal, got in the nearby elevator and pushed the button for the top floor.

The guard got off of the elevator on the other side of the castle, somehow, also on the top floor.

He pulled a paraglider out of his pocket and glided gracefully back down to his post.

He was one of the most inner guards, guarding The Room. He didn't know what was in The Room but it was obviously important.

He held his gun at the ready, he would not fail. He would not get caught unaware.

"I know, but, we have to be ready. we don't know if there are traitors or an attack is coming soon but we must be ready."

The hallway outside the hallway they were in was a really nice choke point and they could probably defend against an assault on the room for days or weeks. Hence the supplies he had stuffed here.
