CoderDrag0n8 He/They Posted January 27, 2025 Posted January 27, 2025 I was looking at a old long post stream, and was thinking back to when I was reading a policy for 17thshard about post necromancy or something? I was wondering if I am allowed to post something on it? 1

Mods will correct me if the opinion has changed: It is preferred that you start a new topic, referencing the old one (details in the Sharder FAQ here). Often, what happens is an old topic gets necro'd - sometimes the person doing so realizes how old it is, sometimes not - but invariably others think it is a new post (because the only look at the most recent date and not the start date) and start replying with "answers" to things that were considered 2, 3, 4+ books ago (before we had the answers that are now obvious, and they act as if the old posts were somehow bad for being incorrect when the answers were not yet known). It tends to start a downhill see-saw that can;t end in a good way. Easier and better to start a new thread, quote or reference the post/thread that inspired you, and go from there. Example also linked from the FAQ (I'll see if I can find a few more to link here as well after dinner). 2
