Nomad8 Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 So after Rhythm of War we know that one person can be bonded to at least 2 radiant spren at the same time. And that got me thinking we see the characters especially Kaladin to struggle in keeping just one set of oaths let alone 2 so what combination of orders would be the easiest to keep both sets of oaths at the same time and which combination of surges would work best together. My personal choice for fulfilling both of those things would have to be Dustbringer+Lightweaver as I believe the Dustbringer oaths about self mastery and the Lightweaver truths about self truths would mesh very nicely and as for the abilities while I don't see any obvious resonances they would all be very useful. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else had some ideas for interesting radiant order combinations where the oaths and powers work well together? 2
Quantus he/him Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 The Lightweavers, Skybreakers, and Elscallers are noted in the Order descriptions as having the most personalize Ideals, so they should be the most compatable with the rest. The Lightweaver just has to be Honest with themselves about what they are doing (or not) with the other Order, Skybreakers just need to be fulfilling some external Law which can easily be another Radiant and/or they're Order's Ideals, and Elsecallers are all about prefecting themselves and that can still just be "Be the Best {Insert Order Here} I can Be".  For Surge combinations, a commonly mentioned one a combination that grants Gravitation and Friction for max aerial speed, Edgedancer/Skybreaker maybe. I think a Bondsmith that has access to Division would be terrifying because I think it would manifest as Spiritual Division, and be absolute hell with cascading destruction of Connections and even spiritwebs. I once theorized that an Order with both Progression and Cohesion might get a resonance that lets them modify Living things as as a fleshcrafter that modifies the living things at the surgical/physical level more like Selish ReSealing.  5

There are many interesting ones, my favorite is a mix of a stoneward and a windrunner like a mini bondsmith. Apart from the fact that bondsmiths are unique, having Tension and Adhesion on a hypothetical fifth ideal knight can be very good for many things besides just fighting, you literally have access to physical and spiritual bonds. shaping the stones or surfaces, joining them to build, helping you with gravitation or making messes with everyone at the same time. On land and in the air it would be very dangerous. Besides, ideals do not clash, Being wherever you are needed can go hand in hand perfectly with, I will protect those who cannot protect themselves. I especially like how comradely these orders look together. Maybe also dustbringers and elsecallers. It doesn't seem to me that their ideals clash, from the little we know so far at least. The Second Ideal of the Elsecallers is focused on reaching one's potential. The Second Ideal of the Dustbringers is focused on self mastery. And their powers together sound cool. Look Jasnah for example, she is too strong (Besides, she is very good at using her skills) just using Transformation adds Division and abrasion for mobility.  3
The Stick Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 Now you have me terrified that Ishar will steal the Surge of Division and start obliterating the SR. 1

I don't think it's possible, or at least not without the bare minimum of what it took to shatter Adonalsium, if it's possible at all.
