Edgar looked at her, then dropped the skull and walked over to her. He’d get it back later, for now, she was more important. He sat next to her. “What’s wrong?” He whispered to her, grabbing her

She whispered back, looking downwards.

“I’m…”

Jenny almost told Ed that she was ok reflexively, but realized that would just be lying to him. She couldn’t do that.

”I think not everyone hates me because I’m a Hades kid. I think some of them just hate me.”

She felt so foolish. It had been wildly egotistical of her to assume that people didn’t like her only because of some unfair reason that was out of her control. And if so many people disliked her as a person, then it had to be for valid reasons.

Man, basically any other character I’ve written would’ve tried to hide this

Partially. If someone knows where he is or happens to look right at him, he might become visible again. It's more like he's evading people's ability to notice him.

That's actually way cooler than Elsie's.

I honestly just added that because her invisibility thing also happens to dampen her demigod scent.

Elsie wipes away her tears, and went back over towards the group. She hoped Terrance didn't hate her.

Oddly, she didn't see him anywhere.

Elsie sighed. She went to go see if he was by any of the other people. He needed a better apology. One that included jelly beans.

No matter where she looked, he was nowhere to be seen.

Elsie narrowed her eyes. She walked over to Jenny, the other nice person. "Hey Jenny, do you know where Terrance went? I think I made him mad." She said, voice panicky. "And now he's vanished."

Jenny looked up slightly, but didn’t make eye contact. Her face was downcast. Terrance was upset with Elsie, but it didn’t matter at this point. He’d liked her before, and Jenny now knew that her previous assumptions about peoples’ hostility were faulty. Terrance’s relationship with Elsie didn’t impact that anymore.

”He turns kinda invisible sometimes. I’m sure he’ll be back. He’s talked to you more than anyone else, so he’s probably not going to stay mad at you.”

No reason to make Elsie upset because of Terrance too.

"Oh. Okay. Thanks." Elsie paused. "...Do you need a hug?"

Jenny smiled slightly, but it was weak.

”That would be nice.”

Elsie didn’t even know why she was sad, yet she still wanted to help her feel better. She was such a kind person. Jenny was a bit embarrassed that her sadness was this evident, though.

Elsie brightened a bit, happy that she could help someone. She hugged Jenny. "I'm sorry that you're sad." She let go, and pulled a package of Skittles out of her bag. "Do you like Skittles?" She asked, offering them to Jenny happily.

Some of Jenny’s sadness faded and her eyes lit up. She hadn’t eaten Skittles in ages.

”I do! Thank you!”

She grabbed a couple and ate a few, savoring their flavors. They were just as delicious as she remembered, and her smiled widened a bit.

She’s only acting nice so she can win your trust.

As Terrance tried to calm down, an ambient feeling of dread crept over the group.

She beamed, and ran off to find Terrance.

She skidded to a halt. "Um. What's happening?" She whispered.

After a moment of internal struggle, Terrance stood up and let himself be seen.

It took her a second to locate him, but she ran over. "I'm so sorry for not respecting your boundaries. I know I apologized earlier, but I thought I should apologize again. Here." She handed him a bag of jelly beans. "Please forgive me."

He declined the jelly beans. "It's... fine."

"It's fine. You're not trying to be scary." She said, shrugging.

Elsie did not care. She was just relieved that he didn't hate her now.

The silence continued, as Terrance was not particularly keen on breaking it.
