He hugged her back, smiling. “You’re fine, it’s ok. But…this is helping. In more ways than one.” He looked into her eyes. In them, he thought he could see why some people anticipated entrance to the underworld. Elysium…he could see it there.

“Good.”

The temperature rose back to normal and the frost melted away swiftly. Without Jenny’s active focus on it, the cold dissipated quickly. She held on for a little while after it was no longer necessary, reluctant to break the hug. She wondered why he was staring at her eyes. Maybe he thought her eyes were pretty. Jenny stared at Ed’s eyes because she thought they were pretty, after all.

He didn’t let go of her. He leaned in slowly, then rested his forehead against hers. He tightened the embrace a little, making sure not to hurt her.

Jenny smiled, pulling herself a bit closer. She wasn’t sure if Ed wanted to kiss or not. She was perfectly happy with either option. Jenny just wanted to stay there with him. He was amazing.

'Are we heading out yet" Aaron wines from inside one of the shelters they had found. "And can you stop messing with the temperature Jenny, it is messing with my plants I have stored" Inside the shelter, Aaron looks at the small seeds in his hand. The ones from the death flower that Jenny had found. He puts on in the ground. Please work still. He sends out a small amount of energy towards the plant.

Jenny jumped, startled. How long had Aaron been watching them? She blushed and turned towards him.

”Sorry!”

She hadn’t intended for her Cryokinesis to spread so far. Maybe experimenting with her potentially dangerous powers wasn’t the best of ideas. It was really fun, though.

”And we still need to wait for Rob and Harold.”

Aaron seemed pretty antsy. It hadn’t been that long since they left. His nervousness made sense, though. She was on edge too after being ambushed by monsters.

Aaron’s that kid who won’t quit saying “are we there yet” on a roadtrip :P

He stayed there for a long time, not moving. It really was perfect there with her.

So what did I miss? Have Jenny and Edgar confronted Roy yet?

Quote

Nope. I’m not sure if Jenny’s going to end up doing that, it depends on what Roy does.

Eventually, Jenny reluctantly pulled back.

”I should go make sure Roy isn’t sabotaging our stuff.”

She’d left her bag next to him. She probably should’ve been more careful. Roy had some weird scheming stuff going on and the possibility of him spiking food with something wasn’t out of the question.

“Good idea, do you want me to go with you?” he asked. She’d probably be better at all of it than him, but it didn’t hurt to ask.

“Yes please. He makes me nervous. Also, I’m still not confident in my ability to walk.”

There was something about Roy that worried her. She had no idea what it was; it was beyond her simple hatred for him. It was indistinct, which made it all the more anxiety inducing. Ed always made her feel safer, though.

“Then I’ll go with you for sure.” He leaned forward, kissed her, then stood up and helped her to her feet. “Let’s go.”

3 - 4. She’d need to catch up.

Jenny slowly but surely made her way over to her bag, leaning heavily on Ed. Instead of giving her customary glare, she didn’t look at Roy. She sat down next to her bag and began rifling through it. Nothing seemed to have been moved, although that didn’t necessarily mean it hadn’t been messed with. She then proceeded to sit there awkwardly, staring at her hands in her lap.

He sat next to her, holding both of her hands. “Is everything still there?” He did glare at Roy.

“I think so.”

She let go of one of Ed’s hands and began pulling daggers out from her bag, counting them. It was impressive how many she had managed to fit in there. It was like a clown car of knives. It made her smile a bit. Jenny loved her daggers.

Edgar smiled too. “Do you have names for each of your knives, or just Sword?” She loved her daggers, and so he did too.

“Ooo, I should name them!”

She had finished laying them out and started to tap each one, saying a name for each.

”Bella, Henry, Bob, Ella, Oliver, Annie…”

This went on for a while as she paused to ponder the appropriate name for each individual blade. She came across the dagger Ed had been using during throwing practice and held it up.

”What do you think this one should be called?”

Edgar smiled the whole time. Jenny was being…well, Jenny. And he loved it. He made sure to keep track of each dagger’s name so he’d remember it later.

”Uhh…Jill?”

“Jill.”

Jenny sounded out the name to test it, then nodded in satisfaction. Jill was a fitting name. She finished the rest of the naming and started to put the daggers back in her pack. It looked like she was trying to play a deadly game of Tetris, with some of the weapons at seemingly haphazard angles. It worked better than one would expect, however, and she soon had closed her dagger-laden pack without issue.

As soon as she was done, however, she immediately remembered that she was sitting near Roy and was tempted to hide under her jacket again. Jenny wasn’t very good at lying, so she was afraid she’d let something slip if she said something to Roy.

Aaron watches as the plants grow, releasing their putrid smell. Yes, he urges the plant to grow an inordinate amount of seeds. Which he harvests. This could be useful in poison maybe. What an interesting plant.

Edgar watched her, still smiling widely. Jenny was in her element…with a bunch of daggers. And Edgar was…just there. Again. But that was ok.

Jenny was getting bored, so she poked her side to see if it still hurt. It hurt. She wasn’t really sure what else she’d been expecting. At least her head didn’t hurt anymore.

If Jenny saw a red button with a sign that said “do not push this” she would 100% try to push it.

Edgar glanced at her side and winced. It didn’t look like it felt good. At least she didn’t seem to be hurting too much.

“So what now?”

“Hmm…”

Jenny tried to stretch, then immediately regretted it.

“I dunno.”

She couldn’t move around to do things like training or finding dead things and had neglected to bring anything fun with her on the quest. She started aimlessly tracing her finger through the dirt, making nothing more than squiggles. She didn’t have any new references for her art yet.
