“That’s very sweet, but it really is a terrible picture. And I’m glad that they didn’t show my face so people won’t recognize me, not because I don’t like how it looks.”

Jenny didn’t really like how her face looked, though. Most people thought it was ugly. It was weird that Edgar didn’t. Maybe some people had lied to her to make her feel bad. She wasn’t sure if she believed that was true, though.

“I don’t think any picture of you could be terrible,” he said with a blush. “That makes sense about your face though, we don’t want to be recognized. I do like the way it looks though. I wonder who took the picture?”

“I dunno. Some weirdo who wanted a picture of someone who was apparently killing puppies.”

Jenny realized something.

”I think this might be the only photo of myself I have. I don’t own a camera, and it’s not like anyone else would want to take a picture of me unless it’s for something like this.”

She sighed.

”Too bad it’s not a particularly good one. Or one that actually has my face in it.”

“Yeah, probably.”

Edgar was confused. How could she not understand how good she looked, both in the picture and in real life?

“I’d take a picture of you,” he said. That had sounded very awkward, hadn’t it? “Like I said, you look great in the picture. But I think you look better in person.” He smiled at her.

She smiled.

“Thank you. I’d take a picture of you too.”

That didn’t sound as good out loud as it had in her head. She blushed slightly, a bit embarrassed. She decided to change the topic.

”What are we planning on doing next? Without the bus, I’m not sure how we can get to Los Angeles.”

She directed this question at the whole group.

“I do think you’re really pretty, I wouldn’t lie to you,” he whispered, then turned to the rest of the group, wondering what they would say.

Jenny was immensely relieved. Edgar’s pain seemed to have vanished, at least partially. She was concerned that he didn’t wake up on his own, though. How long was he going to stay unconscious?

Should I try and wake him up, Gift?

In the meantime, she shook Aaron’s shoulder again, slightly more this time.

Aaron

Aaron stirred, he felt so tired though. "No" he shouts, before sitting up, I cannot be left behind, I have a job to do.

He sits up. "What has happened?"

Jenny jumped slightly when Aaron yelled.

”Not much. You helped Edgar feel much better. Thank you for that, by the way. Right now we’re trying to figure out what to do now that we don’t have the bus.”

She looked at Roy.

”I’m not sure going into a populated area so close to the scene of the fight is a good idea.”

Her stomach growled.

“For once I agree with you,” Edgar said, smiling slightly. Then he stopped himself. Roy had tried to kill him twice, he should hate him. He did hate him. It was just hard not to be happy with Jenny next to him, her body beside his.

Jenny nodded in agreement with the other two. They needed to eat, especially after that fight. Food was important for energy and recovery. She didn’t move yet, however, instead waiting for the other demigods to weigh in on the decision.

Plus, she wanted to put off moving for as long as she could. Jenny was incredibly tired still; using her powers was draining, particularly since she was untrained in how to safely use them. She also liked sitting next to Edgar, his arm around her waist. She'd stay like that for hours if she could.

Edgar smiled. Jenny was next to him, that was enough. More than enough. He didn’t know what more he could want.

Edgar stood again, wobbling. He leaned greatly on Jenny, Gift flowing to him and bracing his legs.

Jenny set off, careful to avoid moving too quickly. Along the way, she kept stealing glances at Kasa, seeming to look at her kind of funny.

Kasa stared defiantly at Jenny. "What?" She said after a bit.

“Oh, I was trying to figure something out.”

She whispered under her breath to Kasa.

”Can I ask you for some girl advice?”

Kasa had been honest about how Jenny’s hair looked, so she figured that she could answer her question.
